I had to get blood taken so they could check my thyroid levels. I'm old hat at this one. I've had my thyroid levels checked at least a dozen times since I was diagnosed three years ago. The weird thing is, I never know what will happen, in regard to the stick. Sometimes, it's fine, and I have no bruising or bleeding, and sometimes I have giant bruises, etc. This time, my shit was pretty immediately jacked up. When I took the gauze off, it was saturated with blood, so obviously I kept bleeding for a while, and the hole is all red and inflamed looking, plus, I'm already getting a bruise. It doesn't hurt, and I probably wouldn't care if it did, it's just interesting to me, from an observational standpoint, how different the outcomes can be.

In 2009, I had my first thyroid biopsy. I entered the hospital nervous and prepared for the worst, but then I met my friendly nurse. Within moments of meeting, she gave me perhaps the greatest compliment I have ever received: “You look exactly like the blonde lady from ABBA, you know.” With that, I closed my eyes and sang an ABBA medley to myself for the rest of the unpleasant process.
Today I had my second thyroid biopsy. I have no cute stories from this one. This was my view. The good news is, this should be it for another two years or so.

There are advantages to having an extra large dog with a thyroid
