Taken with a manual focus Tokina 35-105 3.5 Macro zoom, K mount ( thriftstore lens) I took this on Bill's Trail, Bill Mitchell died last year and he was a neighbor of mine who did a lot of environmental work. The local landtrust created a new trail not far from my home and yesterday was the first time I explored it. It is a lovely medium strenuous hike through part of Shinglemill creeks watershed forest. I love the rich green that happens in the spring in the forest around here, so refreshing!
This week the Smile on Saturday theme is 'Gloves' (8-Feb-2020). And this is my attempt to take an interesting photo of gloves, that would also make people smile ... did it work?

"I will not be another flower, picked for my beauty and left to die. I will be wild, difficult to find, and impossible to forget." -Erin Van Vuren

Thinking of all things Trump brings me to a poem by Anna Akhmatova's girlfriend, Nikolai Gumilev, before (obviously, obviously, obviously BEFORE) he was stood up against that wall and shot. "The Lost Tram" gets anthologized much more..but this darkly funny little one...
THE FOUNDERS
Romulus and Remus went up a hill,
a wild and silent hill.
Said Romulus, "Here there'll be a city."
Said Remus, "A city like the sun."
Said Romulus, "We found our ancient honor
by grace of the stars."
Said Remus, "The past is dead.
Let it be forgotten. Consider the future."
Said Romulus, "Here we'll put the circus,
and here our house, open to everyone."
Said Remus, "But the tombs, the tombs
must be nearer the house."
So very cute red and white, and blue and white ticking style girls frocks from the UK. Great find from a little California thrift shop!
