macromondays theme: deception
it's amazing how much weight these tiny spiderweb threads can sustain... I cropped this quite a bit to get close enough to see the street refracted in the droplets...these were pretty tiny!
Humankind has not woven the web of life.
We are but one thread within in.
Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.
All things are bound together. All things connect.

Smile on Saturday! :-) - Thread
Like thread through a needle, the westbound RIO GRANDE ZEPHYR passes through Tunnel 29 just east of Cliff siding, west of Denver, on June 30, 1979.
For 'Macro Mondays' theme of 'Needle and Thread'.
Went into the basket that contains all sorts of bits and pieces that I think might be useful for a photograph, but invariable are not. However, there was a sparkling piece of ribbon that had been used to wrap a present. Of course, it was far too wide to go through an eye except one for a Giant's needle!
Out came the scissors and I cut a thin strip which I threaded through this darning needle - that was fun because the strip began to unravel, most went through but not all.
The needle was stuck in a polystyrene block to hold it steady and lit with a couple of lights, nothing special. To add a little colour I waved a piece of red ribbon in the background.

My second Twirl attempt, they are fun. And seeing as we are not allowed outside I have far too much time doing nothing.
:-)
I used my photo below in the first comment to create this Twirl.
Happy Sliders Sunday, processed to the max.
Took this photo in Greece, no idea what it is called, anyone know? Thanks
Thanks to Mark I now know this is a Thread Lacewing

Needle and Thread for Macro Monday, this is a "fine" needle image is about 3x.

I guess they might only be visible on a large screen, but there are tiny threads attached to this plant, left by spiders as they travel from flower to flower. I'm afraid I don't know the name of the plant, but at least it's not Helenium. I'm conscious that I'm a bit obsessed with Helenium at the moment, so I thought I'd better post something different today. :)
Taken with my Lensbaby Velvet 56mm.
Glide thread which I typically use for free motion sewing and typically are used for wall hangings as they are 100% polyester. I retired 5 years ago and still get up at 5 am and I then get in my room (with coffee) and create! Makes me VERY happy that I have this craft to keep me creative.
Smile on Saturday ~ thread
The Moirai or Fates were three sister deities, incarnations of destiny and life. Their names were Clotho, the one who spins the thread of life; Lachesis, she who draws the lots and determines how long one lives, by measuring the thread of life; and Atropos, the inevitable, she who chose how someone dies by cutting the thread of life with her shears. They were often described as being ugly and old women, stern and severe. Three days after a child was born, it was thought that the Moirai would visit the house to determine the child's fate and life. (www.greekmythology.com/Other_Gods/The_Fates/the_fates.html)

Un bellissimo cielo doppio, dalle parti del passo Giau.
Buona serata :)
The shallow DOF here allowed for the focus to be right where the thread is through the hole. Fun with the macro lens.
Four needles and a little piece of thread!

After Amtrak cleared the TPW diamond in Chenoa, M-EPEF toned up the UP dispatcher and was able to get the light across in short order. TPW 3440, 5014, 2105, and HESR 3485 are seen here navigating the flange bearing diamond over UP's Joliet Sub with a lengthy train. Up front, stretched as far as you can see, are 62 Incobrasa hoppers, 50 of which were setout at Gilman. Originally, the Peoria crew was to get this train to La Hogue for an HL crew to continue east. However, they only made it at far as Chenoa which resulted in a nice chase over part of TPW's "west end".

A thread-waisted wasp. I could not find much information about this colorful insect. Quite striking with the bold orange and black pattern.

Macro Mondays: keyhole. Quite a challenge to find a keyhole that was a bit interesting. This is in an antique thread cabinet, and you can barely make out some of the old paint labeling. It was not possible to shine light through.
