A car traverses the "Needles Eye Tunnel" in Custer State Park, South Dakota. The tunnel measures 8' 9" wide and 9' 8" tall. The headlight flairs were enhanced using the Sunrays tool in Luminar AI.

Based on the visual characteristics in the image, this moss highly resembles a species in the Bryaceae family, commonly known as thread mosses.
Specifically, it looks very much like a Pohlia species (such as Pohlia nutans, the nodding thread-moss) or a closely related Bryum species.
Here are the key identifying features visible in your photo that point to this:
Nodding Capsules: The most distinct feature is the green, pear-shaped capsules (sporangia) hanging downwards or "nodding" at the end of the stalks.
Reddish Stalks: The thin stalks (setae) holding the capsules have a distinct reddish-brown color, which is a classic characteristic of many Bryaceae species.
Gametophyte Structure: The base green leafy part forms tight, star-like cushions.
A quick note on moss anatomy: What you are seeing here is the moss in its reproductive stage. The green, leafy mat at the bottom is the main plant (the gametophyte), while the reddish stalks and green nodding heads are the sporophytes, which will eventually dry out and release spores to grow new moss.
Disclaimer: Exact species identification of mosses often requires microscopic examination of the leaf shape and cell structure, but visually, it fits perfectly within the nodding thread-moss category.
Playing around with a seldom-used Yongnuo 50mm f1.8 - a fairly inexpensive prime lens that has proved better than I anticipated. I think the original single image was shot at ISO 800, so it's a tad noisy after squeezing the juice out of the RAW file
The thread-waisted wasp:
after 2 hours going through each plant that could be an ideal place for bees and wasps at their sleep.
I came across many different species of wasps and another few bees that were all covered in dew, which made them wet and not photogenic at all. I came across this beautiful wasp, This is a Thread-Waisted wasp, I admit it is so beautiful I was just amazed by this find, sleeping pretty high on a dry plant holding it with the big mandibles not to lose grip at their sleep, pretty hard to shoot, but the time was limited before she would get warm enough to fly away and start hunting for a prey to paralyze and burry under the sand.
It is normal to me to find these wasps sleeping since i have seen dozens that day, I am convinced this is another species that I haven't seen before, Yet one of the most beautiful I have ever seen if not the most.
I set this up on my glass table. Since my lovely Bella came to live with me 2 weeks ago, photography is more of a challenge. Just after taking this photo:
We were at a fabric store when I noticed this display of thread. I just can't resist patterns, particularly when there is some form of variation which only accentuates the repetition. Here, it's the colors and the missing spools which really sells the rank and file configuration.
I am a threadpainter - and as I cannot blend primaries like paint, I do need many, many colours. There are about 750 here; these are only the regular weight threads. (I have 12 weights, silk ribbon, embroidery flosses, and buckets of yarn.) Half of my threads are greens-yellows. I tend not to stitch into sky or water in my work, so there's not a lot of blues. Most of my threadwork is the 'land'scape, stitched by free machine and freestyle hand embroidery. I'm moving into a bigger studio, and my daughter is anxious to have my old space for herself. vintage spools from of my great-grandma's. They are varying shades of green, and I often wonder what she was trying to match to buy all these slightly different colors. Those wooden spools are so much more lovely than the plastic spools today.

Great little thread catchers to have near a sewing machine or craft area. I made these in hopes of having a few less threads hanging onto me.
