thrift store score. 30 little balls of DMC perle for $2. Some are used, obviously, but some are still pretty complete! I'm calling it a success.
This is a table topper that I crocheted from a freebie Coats pattern using DMC Traditions thread. I'm quite pleased in how it turned out even if I'm not pleased with how the pattern was written.
I prefer to shoot and post the more glamorous and interesting bugs but all summer long I shoot the other insects I see. During these winter months I take time to try to identify them which you will notice I have done. See the reference to bugguide, a very useful site to use for bug ID in the United States.
Identification
Thread waisted wasps are distinguished by their long abdomen and stalked (petiolate), giving the body a "thread-waisted" appearance; middle tibiae with two apical spurs; body may be all black (sometimes tinged with metallic blue or green), black and red, yellow and black, or white and black.
Most species nest in the ground, usually in areas that have sparse or no vegetation; some species construct aerial nests composed of mud; a few species nest in hollow plant stems or abandoned bee burrows in logs.
Food
Larvae feed on the paralyzed bodies of a variety of arthropods (the host varies according to wasp species) provided to them by adult wasps; common hosts include spiders, grasshoppers, and caterpillars.
Adults feed on nectar from flowers and extrafloral nectaries, honeydew, and body fluids of their prey.

Blue is such a colour-swallower, quickly paling out all other shades as evening closes. We're still in that strange grey-green before twilight settles fully, curious murk and swimming shadows. Black River swirling just off Allen Lake Road, eager expectation as the shade sighs into place. I don't have to be the one to tell you darkness is divine. It sweetens the deal by bringing brightness more value, whatever shines seems lighter for the contrast. The gentle rush rises to meet me, runs around the spot I stop to sit on, leaves me alone. Some sideways embrace that does its best by not touching, almost closing the gap, not quite. It's all a question of contact fulfilled. Not that I'm opposed to the process of sharing – but there's nothing truer than what's been felt alone.

These are the threads for the Lily's Quilts QAL that I have chosen. I am planning to use the pink one for the dresdens with pink backgrounds and the brown for the others but I may change that and do some browns with the pink too.

After finishing the button, the thread is inserted in between the three layers of cloth and then firmly pulled.
It is then cut, and the thread will spring back in between the layers of cloth. This ensures a clean finish to the button and also prevents the button from coming loose.
In the northern part of the city of Kolkata one can see many such small factories which are equipped with loads of machineries that create sheets of cotton from the yarn of white cotton thread. Once the sheet is made it is sent to the various clothing industries to be made into the desired product.
"He introduced me to the machineries they possessed. If I counted it right I think there were around 10 of them all singing the synchronous cog music. He showed me around the place with a pride on his face."

Wales has a much celebrated tradition of creating both utilitarian and decorative textiles of distinctive design. From power-loomed blankets to hand-stitched quilts, textiles are a key part of Welsh visual culture and history.
Whilst ‘A Darker Thread’ takes this heritage as its starting point, twelve contemporary artists, designers and makers have been invited to exhibit work which subverts these expectations.
Exhibitors have been selected for their challenging, confrontational or unpredictable approach to making thoroughly contemporary work which confidently cross boundaries of art, design and craft. A variety of making processes are exemplified, but all make use of thread in some form.
The curious, provocative, intense, fragile works explore broad-ranging themes of empowerment, loss, language, internal landscapes, memory and gender to name but a few. Some work might still feel comfortably familiar through its materiality or typically ‘Welsh’ colour palette of black, ecru and red; much hopefully, does not.
New holographic thread color from Kreinik: in Blending Filament. The holographics have flecks of color that make them look wet and 3-dimensional.
