Just a bunch of Crochet threads, I liked the colours and texture made from the bindings. Just used a load of cardboard sheets to shape the light on the backdrop and product.
Common Thread-waisted Wasp (Ammophila procera). Patuxent Research Refuge, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
Ammophila procera, with what looks like a walnut caterpillar (Datana integerrima). Her burrow was nearby, and I watched her place her prey into it.
An image I took for a challenge "Inanimate Macro". I was pretty pleased with the final result, considering I don't have an actual macro lens.
The EXIF data is somewhat deceiving, as there was a reversed 50mm 1.8 in front of the mounted lens. This gives the macro ability and only provides a very shallow DOF. I might try this one again one day with focus stacking to get a better DOF.

A glass ampul containing virgin silk; an extremely fine ophthalmic suture material consisting of two to seven natural silk filaments bonded together by sericin, a natural adhesive. This ampul is dated 28-01-1964. The silk was held in the ampul to protect it from air and contaminants. To get to the silk, you had to snap of the neck of the ampul.

A trip to JoAnn Fabrics and some pp work
First: it was interesting to walk around in JoAnn's Fabric Store with a DSLR. But, I knew I would find something in there of interest. Actually, thread was probably the reason I went in there. It might be interesting to frame and hang in my sewing room. Anyway... Second: for some reason, the top and bottom pincushioned and I had to straighten that. Then, I didn't like all the blank space between the rows where they had their labels and stuff so I duplicated each row and pasted that it in the space below. I was amazed it fit just perfectly. Third, because of the lighting in the store, I had to do some color correction and bumped the contrast a little. That's pretty much it.

Actually, I didn't want to get a photo that was so regular. But after posting my mini pumpkins (before I thought about it) and having comments on it already, I didn't want to make you wade past them to make your critique. So, I chose something else.
Postman just delivered a package with THREAD festival brochures in it. And my picture of a pincushion is featured on it! Yay!
Bored in Albuquerque, NM, while on a business trip, I found this sewing kit in my hotel room...
A sewing needle is a long slender tool with a pointed tip. The first needles were made of bone or wood; modern ones are manufactured from high carbon steel wire, nickel- or gold plated for corrosion resistance. The highest quality embroidery needles are made of platinum. Traditionally, needles have been kept in needle books or needle cases which have become an object of adornment.
A needle for hand sewing has a hole, called the eye, at the non-pointed end to carry thread or cord through the fabric after the pointed end pierces it. Hand sewing needles have different names depending on their purpose.
Needle size is denoted by a number on the packet. The convention for sizing is that the length and thickness of a needle increases as the size number decreases. For example, a size 1 needle will be thicker and longer, while a size 10 will be shorter and finer.

Modern weaving machines use thousands of cords to lift the warp threads of the cloth such that a pattern emerges. The machine this picture was taken from shoots the weft thread using solely air!
I needed some darker red thread to finish this little project. Since it's already dark, photos will have to wait until tomorrow. These reds feel so Christmas-y to me! Even thought this project isn't at all Christmas! :)
I found it scary to start my first machine stippling, but once started I only had the choice of unpicking or continuing. My machine kept snapping the bobbin thread so it was quite challenging, but I was pleased with the results. (I had the machine plate repaced and no more broken bobbin threads when free motion quilting.)
Usually, I do not post pics like this, so heavily cropped, but it's a stravaganza... Tumbling satellite (probably Cosmos 1503 ) flies directly from North America nebula. Thanks heavens-above.com

Threading for Men, Why not, I saw this today in Watford and could not help taking a picture to share........Sony A7M2 + Sigma 105mm F/2.8, EXIF: Exp 1/200 Sec, ISO 1250, F/2.8 and FL 157mm via conversion to APS-C mode.
I'm taking a fabulous class which involves a lot of hand stitching and a wide variety of threads. Some people collect different threads like others collect fabric! The different displays of everyone's threads was beautiful for sure. For this shot, my camera was set at f1/8 and I focused on one spool of Perle Cotton, letting the others blend and meld together. cy365 335/365

Concrete foundations on the flat below Tuscarora must have once held ore processing equipment secured on these rusty bolts. It looks like the threads didn't survive the machinery removal.

Another lovely day, so you'd think I'd photograph something to show that, but here we have a quickly snapped reel of thread, crossed processed to give it some age and a Kim Klassen texture added.....I do like having a bit of a play :)
Correction, it was a nice day, but by 3pm it had turned grey again :(
