A very rare Chickpea butterfly :)
The theme this week in the Smile on Saturday group is 'Butterflies'. I didn't go with the obvious choice, as usual lol, so I made my own :)
For those who don't know Chickpea is my creative muse and always willing model. I made his wings from clematis petals and the antennae from wire food ties, getting those to stay upright wasn't easy lol sticky tape helped!
Flickr is still hit and miss, very slow and doing my head in!

Went back to do a new take on this after it had snowed. The idea of the pushing came from one of the comments of the earlier upload. See below for previous shot.
And since my remote broke down last time I had to have some help from some asian tourist. Two girls.. They giggled and fired some rounds for me:p
I had it on a 2 sec delay and at this shot I am turning towards the girs and screaming "one more". But they had just pushed it and it fired:p
I got a bit warm in my cheeks about all the fuzz.. But I didnt have the time to run for it on a 10 sec delay as on the other upload as that was a shorter run.
As they walked away giggeling we were all winners I guess:-)
And then I went to work..
Pretty much straight out of the camera. Some whitebalance tweaking and I removed the antennas and the cc-tv as last time.
My first ever job when I moved to England was painting models (cottages) for Lilliput Lane. One of the models was re-created to serve as visitor centre; I spent many hours in this cottage. Good times indeed.
I like the shape of this tree in front of the iron fence---it is a pretty place down by the Ohio River -----it was a misty day whenever I took this shot--and I liked it the way it was--but I added the texture because I like it better with it-------:-)hehehehe----Have a good rest of the day you guys----thanks for visiting---busy right now will catch up a little later!

How bright is this flower? I decided to translate some of the custom order felt flower brooches I have completed..into different accessories. I have been enjoying working with and manipulating felt these days..and am itching for springtime so..hence all the birdies and flowers..
This is a big one..measuring in at 6"W X 6"L X 3" tall..and that's just for the flower!

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

I'm totally into polka dots!! Always have been but have recently rediscovered my love for them. I bought some great fabrics..a real hot pink with black polka dots and black with white. This is my latest listing..a cute little mirror for your 'star'.
Custom order for my flicker pal! Hand crafted felt flower brooches. Each was created from hand cut felt pieces in different shapes, sizes, designs and colors. Each on has its own unique style. The colors were chosen based upon coordinating fabric yarn from the buyer. The idea is to combine these brooches with her great fabric purses and bags.
More felted goodness. Felt hearts in many sizes and styles. Each was so much fun to create and are the same idea and shape yet a completely different look and outcome for each. All of these hearts are for a custom order for a flickr/etsy buddy! Perhaps you will see them somewhere other than here..hmmm.

Sometimes I come up with an idea for a photo, implement and get a satisfactory result, which I often will post to Flickr. Usually though I do not stop trying that idea after the initial success, because even if a do not produce a "better" image with subsequent efforts, I will at least produce different images. This is the result of a second or third attempt, I honestly do not remember which. But I start in the middle...
Once in a while I like using a double exposure technique where the first image is taken perfectly in focus and a second exposure is made over that completely out of focus. If everything works out, it can have a lovely surreal or otherworldly effect, as seen here and here. Sometimes I just do it because I have seen a particular landscape so many times that I just want to try something new, such as here with Narada Falls. And sometimes surprisingly the effect is so slight as to hardly be noticeable at all, yet still producing a dramatically different image than a single exposure would have granted, such as these two shots. Regardless, it is a fun, and surprising (in its results) way of photographing a familiar landscape. Easy to do with both film and digital cameras, a way to escape the bounds of the box and do something different with your camera, which is what I am constantly trying to do, no matter which camera I have happened to pick up. I like finding ways to make these machines work for me, and not vice versa. But now I stray...
So sometime this past April I was out at the Woodburn Tulip Festival, which happens to border a giant hazelnut grove. Sometimes I enjoy the groves more than the fields, especially once noon rolls around and the fields are swarming with people. I can only handle so many parents ignoring the no pick signs while they happily wave at their children mowing down a row of tulips single-handedly. In contrast, these groves, while only a couple of minutes away, and in plain sight of the fields are almost always completely deserted. So I wandered over one day, and one thing led to another, and before I knew it I had made some double exposed shots of these groves. I was fairly satisfied with at least one of the pictures and posted it here. But then I ended up back out there, and never one to let initial successes dampen my sense of further exploration, tried again, this time with my Pentax 67. Those familiar with the camera probably wonder how I pulled this off as the camera does not allow double exposures. Very true. In this case I actually made two exposures on slide film, each a stop over exposed so the slides would be a bit lighter, then layered them together and scanned them in as a single slide. The nifty thing with this method is you can actually position the two slides independently of one another, and believe me, this can have a dramatic result on the final effect. So then I came away with this shot, which I like better than the original, but did not get around to posting again until tonight.
Phew, and that is the story behind this one. This is one that really gains something viewed large by the way. Enjoy.
