THEY may be widespread and rather nondescript, streaked brown bird, but I have a real affection for them, as a ground-dwelling species, it is quite approachable with care. Feeds on invertebrates as seen, a bit harder in the capture in the winter when they often form loose flocks.

They say swearing is due to limited vocabulary.
I know thousands of words, but I still prefer “FK OFF” to “go away”.

They say that Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.
If true or not it doesn't matter because all of this is what I wish to you, dear Flickr friends, in the beginning of one more week, a very special week in some parts of the world ;)

“They say a good love is one that sits you down, gives you a drink of water, and pats you on top of the head. But I say a good love is one that casts you into the wind, sets you ablaze, makes you burn through the skies and ignite the night like a phoenix; the kind that cuts you loose like a wildfire and you can't stop running simply because you keep on burning everything that you touch! I say that's a good love; one that burns and flies, and you run with it!”

Song: Mercy, Mercy, Me (The Ecology)
Woah, ah, mercy, mercy me
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Where did all the blue skies go?
Poison is the wind that blows
From the north and south and east
Woah mercy, mercy me, yeah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Oil wasted on the ocean and upon our seas
Fish full of mercury
Oh Jesus, yeah, mercy, mercy me, ah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Radiation underground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Hey, mercy, mercy me, oh
Hey, things ain't what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land?
How much more abuse from man can she stand?
Oh, na, na, na
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, ooh, woo

Although they are the most colourful members of the crow family, Jays can be quite difficult to see. They are shy woodland birds, rarely moving far from cover so quite a surprise to actually see one land very close to you out in the open.

They may have a bit of an ice coating on this morning but what a seat this tree family has to welcome in each new day! From High Point State Park, the appropriately named highest spot in New Jersey, 1 January 2020, about 5 1/2 minutes after sunrise. A couple of days before I took this there was a storm that left about a 3/4 inch ice coating on all the trees but not the roads, made for an interesting look!
Wheatears back on the moors. I think these are my favourite upland passerines (although Whichat run them close, but they're not here yet)
They say hummingbirds are feathered jewels and this female looked like an emerald glistening in the bright afternoon sun.
I loved all the herons I saw on this trip. They included: Cocoi, Boat-billed, Capped, Zigzag, Fasciated, Striated and this pretty Rufescent Tiger-Heron.
that they may more perfectly respect it :-)

It took a bit of effort but they are off to a nearby field only to return again in the evening. Fabulous to see
The Painted bunting is a small brightly-colored member of the cardinal family. The males are brightly colored with blue, green, red and yellow plumage. Females and juveniles are bright green with pale rings around their eyes. The male is considered by many to be North America's most beautiful bird, and they are one of the most popular visitors to bird feeders. Painted buntings are one of the most spectacularly colored and visually impressive birds in the United States and are the only U.S. bird with a blue head along with red underparts.
Painted Buntings are still fairly common, but populations have been dropping for several decades. The North American Breeding Bird Survey estimated a decline of 62% between 1966 and 1995, but the 1966-2014 survey does not find significant decreases, suggesting that populations may have stabilized, or at least the decline has slowed, since 1995. Partners in Flight estimates a global breeding population of 13 million, with 80% spending at least part of the year in the U.S., and 51% in Mexico. The species rates a 12 out of 20 on the Continental Concern Score, and is not on the 2014 State of the Birds Watch List. Painted Bunting is listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List.
Found this male in Lake Wales, Polk County, Florida.
The last few days, the cedar waxwings have been enjoying the berries on our dogwood trees. Always happy to see them back as Autumn approaches!
They are also known as changeable lizards as they are camouflaged.
I often saw them from my window basking in the sun or sometimes fighting with a rival.
Thanks a lot for your visits, you kind comments and faves.
Have a nice sunday❤️
It's so lovely to see the second brood common blues back in good numbers near home - I saw very few of the first brood 💙
