THEY may be widespread and rather nondescript, streaked brown bird, but I have a real affection for them, as a ground-dwelling species, it is quite approachable with care. Feeds on invertebrates as seen, a bit harder in the capture in the winter when they often form loose flocks.

they call this male Cheetah in the Kwara concession due to his special abilities. He´s often found climbing trees which is unusual for a Cheetah.

"Don't ask me
What you know is true
Don't have to tell you
I love your precious heart
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never tear us apart
We could live
For a thousand years
But if I hurt you
I'd make wine from your tears
I told you
That we could fly
'Cause we all have wings
But some of us don't know why
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never, ever tear us apart
I (Don't ask me)
I was standing (You know it's true)
Mm, you were there (Worlds collided)
Two worlds collided (We're shining through)
And they could never tear us apart
You (Don't ask me)
You were standing (You know it's true)
I was there (Worlds collided)
Two worlds collided (We're shining through)
And they could never tear us apart
I was standing
You were there"
"Welcome the Wind"
Good days, they are ahead
You can feel it all coming back
It opens up your heart
As the morning makes room for a new start
Welcome the wind
Of golden days setting in
You wake up to feel
The days turn back to spring
Your old ways are in the past
Make room for all you never had
Old ways are in the past
Make peace with what you never had
Just open up your heart
As the morning makes room for a new start
Just wake me up
Just wake me up
A new day is coming
A new light
A new day is coming
A new light
A new day is coming
A new light
A new day is coming
A new light

They only bloom for a few days and yet they are fascinating and - don't worry, they don't have to be watered...
Thank you very much for all your visits, faves and
kind comments! Much appreciated!
Although they are the most colourful members of the crow family, jays are actually quite difficult to see. They are shy woodland birds, rarely moving far from cover. The screaming call usually lets you know a jay is nearby and it is usually given when a bird is on the move, so watch for a bird flying between the trees with its distinctive flash of white on the rump. Jays are famous for their acorn feeding habits and in the autumn you may see them burying acorns for retrieving later in the winter. What they eat: Mainly acorns, nuts, seeds and insects, but also eats nestlings of other birds and small mammals (Courtesy RSPB).
Thanks for viewing my photos and for any favourites and comments, it’s much appreciated 👍
At 6.45PM, yes they prefer to go home...

Song: Mercy, Mercy, Me (The Ecology)
Woah, ah, mercy, mercy me
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Where did all the blue skies go?
Poison is the wind that blows
From the north and south and east
Woah mercy, mercy me, yeah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Oil wasted on the ocean and upon our seas
Fish full of mercury
Oh Jesus, yeah, mercy, mercy me, ah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Radiation underground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Hey, mercy, mercy me, oh
Hey, things ain't what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land?
How much more abuse from man can she stand?
Oh, na, na, na
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, ooh, woo

What you wanna do
There’s only one thing left to say.

What you are gonna do?
Won’t someone tell me?

Your love, lifting me higher
Than I've ever been lifted before
So keep it it up
Quench my desire
And I'll be at your side
Forevermore
You know your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting me (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
Listen
Now, once I was downhearted
Disappointment was my closest friend
But then you came and it soon departed
And you know, he never
Showed his face again
That's why your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting me (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher), alright
I'm so glad I finally found you
Yes, that one in a million, girl
And now with my loving arms around you
Honey, I can stand up
And face the world
They are all over these days. Feeding on scale insects, tiny flies, and little bugs, these beauties have occupied the parks in couple of recent days, in order to migrate south.
The Painted bunting is a small brightly-colored member of the cardinal family. The males are brightly colored with blue, green, red and yellow plumage. Females and juveniles are bright green with pale rings around their eyes. The male is considered by many to be North America's most beautiful bird, and they are one of the most popular visitors to bird feeders. Painted buntings are one of the most spectacularly colored and visually impressive birds in the United States and are the only U.S. bird with a blue head along with red underparts.
Painted Buntings are still fairly common, but populations have been dropping for several decades. The North American Breeding Bird Survey estimated a decline of 62% between 1966 and 1995, but the 1966-2014 survey does not find significant decreases, suggesting that populations may have stabilized, or at least the decline has slowed, since 1995. Partners in Flight estimates a global breeding population of 13 million, with 80% spending at least part of the year in the U.S., and 51% in Mexico. The species rates a 12 out of 20 on the Continental Concern Score, and is not on the 2014 State of the Birds Watch List. Painted Bunting is listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List.
Found this male in Lake Wales, Polk County, Florida.

Belive it or not, these trees got an 'educational' cut. The pic's core is a street scenery. Visit the location via google streetview.
They have a highly audible song for such a small bird. It took several minutes before I could locate him as he sang a few phrases from one place, and then started again in another location. Luckily for me, he flew down to an open perch very close where he sang and raised his crown.
It was a bright overcast backlight situation. I was close enough to get detail though, and I really like the way those red crown feathers were lighted from behind.
If you have never heard its song, Check the link below.

Elephant seals: They're huge, loud and so ugly, they're cute. And each year, they gather on California's Central Coast for mating, birthing and molting seasons. Visitors to San Simeon can catch elephant seals there year-round, but the population grows at certain times of the year as the seals go through different phases in their life cycle. The peak months for viewing elephant seals are from October through March, when their population on San Simeon's shores can reach 17,000. So if you've planned a trip to Hearst Castle or San Luis Obispo in the fall, winter or early spring, consider dropping by San Simeon to watch the elephant seals in action.
From this point up & down 3 miles, the elephant seals estimated of 25,000 there.
So amazing to witness this, they do smell tho when you get near.
They are among the oldest horticultural orchids in the world. They are among the most popular orchid genus. They're an important cut flower crop for florists and are widely cultivated as a grower's fancy. Commonly known as boat orchids, is a genus of evergreen flowering plants in the orchid family Orchidaceae. Orchids in this genus are epiphytic, lithophytic, terrestrial or rarely leafless saprophytic herbs usually with pseudobulbs. There are usually between three and twelve leaves arranged in two ranks on each pseudobulb or shoot and lasting for several years. From one to a large number of flowers are arranged on an unbranched flowering stem arising from the base of the pseudobulb. The sepals and petals are all free from and similar to each other. The labellum is significantly different from the other petals and the sepals and has three lobes. There are about fifty-five species and sixteen further natural hybrids occurring in the wild from tropical and subtropical Asia to Australia. Cymbidiums are well known in horticulture and many cultivars have been developed. Plants in the genus Cymbidium are epiphytic, lithophytic or terrestrial plants, or rarely leafless saprophytes. All are sympodial evergreen herbs. Some species have thin stems but in most species the stems are modified as pseudobulbs. When present, there are from three to twelve leaves arrange in two ranks and last for several years. The leaf bases remain after the leaf has withered, forming a sheath around the pseudobulb. The flowers are arranged on an unbranched flowering stem which arises from the base of the pseudobulb or rarely from a leaf axil. 4816
