This is a short teaser trailer for a student film produced at the Department of Screen Arts at the University of Michigan which I wrote and directed. This experimental film about the city of Detroit doubles as my undergraduate honors thesis.

"Urban Field Notes" is a love song to the simple pleasures of city life. It's about cutting a clear path through the chaos of an urban environment, to arrive at a place where the city belongs only to you, the viewer.
Thirteen pieces are from "Downtown," my MFA thesis project and 2010 calendar, which will be for sale at the gallery. The exhibition also includes five brand new pieces that also explore the city theme.
All works are framed and matted archival giclee prints. Additional prints will be available for order.

Compassion & Cares Hospice of Tribeca New York provides comfort and compassion to patients, care givers and family members when a cure is no longer possible. The environment CCH provides enables a person to retain his or her dignity and quality of life while living out their final days to the fullest. The CCH team provides an oriented approach to expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support. These services are tailored to the needs and wishes of each patient, their families and care givers. The professional staff and trained volunteers help thousands of clients each year by listening without judgment to their fears and guiding their search for a peaceful, humane death.

Client: The Ballet Hispanico School of Dance
Original Space: 160 E 120th St, New York, NY
New York City is known as a "mosaic", and the largest ethnic group is from Latin America. Although they share languages and traditions based on Spanish or Portuguese colonial models, each country has evolved its own independent cultures and beliefs. The Viva al Ritmo Latino Dance Center will become a destination for Latin Americans in New York City as well as a place for other cultures to learn about Latin cultures through dance.

The proposed facility will provide young adults aged 18 and up suffering from muscular dystrophy the freedom and ability to enjoy life in an environment designed especially for life in a wheelchair. This thesis is an attempt to provide for a segment of our community that has not had the ability to live a normal life before the chance to discover and create. Bringing the public into this facility becomes an integral part in promoting integration and the prospect of independence and community.

With smart devices causing us to become introverted, and with the acceptance of popular “Reality TV” broadcasts depicting people treating others with disrespect, our society has begun to forget the traditional “human” value of decency. Our hope is to re-instill behaviors that are honest, caring, and understanding. How can any society thrive and introduce new ideas for a better world if members aren’t willing to care for one another and work together as a whole?
