The Rocks is Sydney's oldest district: sandstone houses were built here shortly after the first Europeans landed in the bay. The area got its name from the sandstone used.
Today, the Rocks are a popular area for residents and visitors alike, who stroll along the terraces and narrow lanes. No wonder, given its central location directly on the Harbour Bridge within sight of the Central Business District and the Opera House.
In addition to museums and galleries, there are also numerous pubs in the Rocks. These include Lord Nelson's, one of Sydney's oldest pubs.
This photo captures a spontaneous moment of pure joy as a woman breaks into an impromptu Irish dance outside of a pub in The Rocks, Sydney. With her arms held closely to her side and her feet flying, she embodies the spirited energy of the Irish dance. Passersby look on with delight and amusement, clapping rhythmically to the beat of the tune.

Guardian Square is a public space located at the western end of the Pyrmont Bridge in Darling Harbour, Sydney.
This bridge is renowned as the world's largest heritage-listed swing-span bridge and serves as a vital connection between the city center and the Ultimo and Pyrmont areas. The square provides an open area for passive recreation, allowing visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding regions and the harbor. Its strategic location makes it a popular meeting point for both locals and tourists traveling between Sydney's CBD and the western suburbs. Additionally, Guardian Square is occasionally used for events and light activations, provided they do not obstruct the general flow of pedestrians and cyclists on the bridge. The area is notable for its heritage value and significance as a historical landmark in the city.

The light show on the Opera House this year was titled 'songlines', put together by indigenous artists.
Foundation Park at The Rocks, Sydney, Australia. Foundations and walls of the old houses of the pioneers that once stood here are complemented or enhanced by furniture (some over-sized) and items that act as art / sculpture.

Finally got out for some photos. I have been busy learning loads of Irish tunes on the banjo.
Took my son and daughter to see The Rocks to inspect the cave-ins that happened this past winter and spring. Quite a lot of erosion going on, to say the least. I liked the way the sun hit this rock.
