When dreams come true, it might be the case you find yourself in one of the most epic sceneries the Alps have to offer. We felt like being in an unreal world when all the stars aligned and we got the famous Matterhorn being reflected on the mirror-plane lake. Not enough of that, the color texture of the cone-shaped granite rock mimicked the peak's early morning glow in a symmetry and equilibrium, you almost can't believe. This has been witnessed by a group of very nice fellows from Australia, Canada, Israel and Italy. Thanks to @torygrimaldi, @vladimir.kogan and @dw_photo_ca for the nice company!

Hold in the Rock. I wonder how it got its name. Probably some child pointing and telling their parent there was a hole in the rock. This was on a very hot July day around lunch time. This family had no concerns and hiked up to the shady hole in the rock. It overlooks the phoenix zoo that happens to be closed because of COVID-19.

Hiked Interstate State Park which is a beautiful park at the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin. It's one of the few places where you reach some elevation when hiking, otherwise Minnesota is quite flat landscape.
No better way to start the 2019 series of the Swiss Alps with the remarkable Jungfrau, a 4158 m high peak between the regions Bern and Wallis. The photograph shows the northwestern slope in absolutely juicy morning light with its two beautiful glaciers: Kühlauenen (left) and Giesen (center). The photograph was taken (believe it or not) right from the balcony of our guesthouse in Interlaken. Thanks to our very nice host Jen at the Adventure Guest House Interlaken!

Toulumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park
Toulumne Meadows is located in the back-country of Yosemite National Park. It is one of the largest, high-elevation meadows in the Sierra Nevada at 8,600 feet. With its beautiful rock studded, sub-alphine meadow landscape, along the Tioga Road, one can easily spend hour wandering around and enjoying the peaceful scenery of this beautiful meadow.

Olmsted Point, Yosemite National Park, CA
Olmsted Point is located in Yosemite Park backcountry and is another great viewing point off Tioga road. This point was named for famed landscape architect, Fredrick Law Olmsted and his son.
Fredrick Law Olmsted is famous for co-designing most of the beloved parks across the United States, including Central Park in New York City an Golden Gate Park in San Francisco
I was eight or nine years old, when I was first inside the Rhone glacier. Twenty five years later I had another chance to explore the narrow corridors there. Nevertheless, they were not exactly the same. Due to the ongoing glacial recession, the responsible have to build new corridors, year by year.

As promised, the return to the Swiss Alps did not take long. On this trip in the middle of July I came with two friends of mine. We would stay four days in this extraordinarily beautiful area, hike a few kilometres, cover some metres of altitude and spend the nights in our tents.

These are the least visited and most remote large sand dunes in Death Valley. A rough dirt road and lengthy hike to see them.

Those big glaciers are much impressive and true giants of the Alps. Like a living organism they wind themselves, finding their way down to the valley. The Gorner glacier is almost 13 km long and covers an area of more than 50 km² [1]. The picture was taken from Schwarzsee (2583 m) above Zermatt.

Sunset at Payette Lake, McCall, Idaho !!
The lake shore with sparkling snow and the whole huge lake is frozen with the golden sun kissing the lake. What a beautiful evening at McCall.

On the side note, this was captured at around 5:15 PM. We captured another photo at the same place just 90 mins back, at around 3:45 PM which gives completely different perspective.

We cut the hike up to Ryten Mtn short at about 650 ft due to weather blowing in. That allowed for some time to catch scenes like this one.
A well composed landscape contains many elements, including a nice foreground. Lacking that, I don't think I will ever pass up taking shots of vistas such as this.

I had long wanted to find and photograph the elusive Mossbrae Falls, one of the most scenic waterfalls in California. Please note that the only access to the falls at this time is illegal, subject to fines, and potentially dangerous due to passing trains along the route. After walking a mile or so along rocky, ankle twisting terrain along the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks past signs that said, "No Trespassing" and "No Access to Mossbrae Falls" we found it.
