The blackbird is the most common and one of the most famous birds in our country. It is even the most numerous breeding bird in the Netherlands. Recently, however, the species has suffered from the usutu virus. Blackbirds are noisy. If a cat is nearby, they warn other animals with their loud alarm call for a long time. The nests are often easy to find, which means that many eggs and young fall prey to cats and crows. Despite these losses, the blackbirds are still very numerous: they compensate for this natural loss by raising many young. In the spring, the blackbird sings a beautiful song from a high place.

from my archives- taken 4 years ago on a trip to my homeland- the Netherlands. We took a tour on the canal at Kinderdijk-- one of the highlights of our time there. It was rather a dark day but we enjoyed it very much! It was my husband's first time in Holland-- a thrill for me!!
thanks for your visits, my friends, and have a great day.
Lengte trein: 18.48 meter
Bouwjaar: 1911
Vervaardiger: Werkspoor, Amsterdam
This locomotive, called "De Jumbo" appears on the track in 1911 under number SS731, and has been in service for more than half a century. In 1921 he gets the well-known number 3737.
This locomotive has driven approximately 3 million kilometres, making it one of the most successful steam locomotives in the Netherlands. The Jumbo regularly fills in for the newer diesel trains from the 1930s, which regularly do not run due to recurring defects.
The locomotive has twice as much power as its predecessor and is therefore very suitable for express train services.
Because of its size it is nicknamed 'Jumbo'.
The 3737 makes its last regular run on January 7, 1958:
from Geldermalsen to Het Spoorwegmuseum. This is also the last official steam train ride in the Netherlands.
Train length: 18.48 metres
Year built: 1911

The YE 57 Eben Haezer is operated by Gebroeders
Nieuwenhuize B.V. from Yerseke and engages in mussel and oyster fishery. It was built in 1994 by Stocznia Txzw Sp in Tcew (Poland) and Maaskant in Bruinisse (Holland), It has two Cummins engines (702 kW). Size: 38,00 x 9,00 x 2,70 m, draught 0,840 m.
By the way: a cutter is smaller than a trawler (in Katwijk it's called a 'trolder'), mainly operates on the North Sea and only stays at sea two to five days in a row.
This is number 2 of the Harns/Harlingen album and 31 of Naar het Noorden.
