Macro Mondays, theme: Geometry Shapes
A 96-well tray for testing biological samples, viewed under polarized light, and illuminated by the dim glow from pictures on iPads. Not to worry, the "biological samples" shown here come from a bottle of a fine French red wine.

So it goes when you're a old rusty lag bolt. Some folks may remember this from a couple of years ago. I shot it for a Macro Mondays theme of "Rust" and it's easy to see why I picked it. When I saw that the MM theme this week was "Screw" I jumped at the chance to shoot it again and see how it compared to what I shot the first time around. Unfortunately, it seems to have taken second fiddle to the Fiat worm gear for this week's Macro Mondays submission but I'm posting it anyway as some people may wonder what can be accomplished with focus stacking and this worked out pretty well IMO.
This lag bolt held a pulley for a clothesline anchored to a tree that had been cut down. The tree had grown around the pulley and I found it while I was cutting up the tree for firewood. I cut the pulley out, cleaned it up and now it sits on a shelf collecting dust and a few spider webs. I included a picture of the pulley in the first comment.
The visible bolt is relatively small and measures 0.25 in. x 0.90 in. I used the Nikon 55mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Micro lens w/PK-12&13 Extension Tubes, 41.5mm total extension and a 20 image focus stack at f/5.6 to keep everything sharp.
Macro Mondays
Theme: " The fist letter of my surname"
'S' is the first letter of my surname. I thought about sunflowers right away after reading the theme for today. I love sunflowers so I was very lucky to see some on displays when we went to Canada Blooms 2019 Show.
Have a wonderful new week everyone! Happy Monday!!🌻
Thank you all for your visit, faves and kind comments. Always greatly appreciated.

My favorite theme of 2017 was "members choice - inspired by a song" and this time I've chosen the song "Tumbling dice" by Rolling Stones.
The macro mondays group’s theme for 3/16 is needle and thread; and this is one of the possibilities. I am still learning about macro on the iPhone but I do like its potential......... check out the set-up shot in the first comment box
this was not an easy theme. When I tried the needle against the sequined backdrop it was very tricky to focus.
This is one of the ways Camille tells us she is ready to come inside; she appears at one of several windows with a look like this. We think looking in the windows also contributed to her decision to bring her 4 kittens to our door; we caught "that tabby" staring into our house on at least 3 occasions before she came with family in tow.
(meanwhile, Jimmy sleeps)
A view of Lake Te Anau as we left the glow worm caves in a fast ferry boat. No photos allowed inside the caves but it was like looking up at a starry sky just a short distance from our faces in pitch black darkness. Our guide was silently pulling our small boat through the darkness somehow avoiding the walls of the cave and the other boat we knew went out into the cave lake before us.
Thanks for visiting and I look forward to comments!

the macromonday's theme for today 3/19 is "once upon a time".
and this little ogre is the one under the bridge in the norse tale of the billy goats gruff.......... have another possibility for today- it was so much easier when we had two postings ~grin~
#MacroMondays and #OnceUponATime
btb, the ogre is 2 and 1/4th inches tall.
he is a refrigerator magnet, as is the billy goat.
... another light painting image. I’ve wanted to try the book thing for a while but haven’t had an opportunity to set the shot up. This week’s theme was perfect and I ended up capturing some hearts in the light too. Happy Valentine’s Day to you all. My second image to be published on the 1x.com website gallery.1x.com/photo/1815412/latest:user:748081
Happy Caturday theme 19 Dec 2020, "Colourful". Pepper likes to snuggle under fabric so I thought I'd let him play with last year's rainbow tie-dyed "Kittenpalooza" T from Cat Adoption Team. Pepper is Black and white but between that huge red yawn and the T shirt I think he's pretty colorful!
On safari in Africa is one of the many garden themes at the Ralph Court Gardens in Bromyard, Herefordshire, UK.
Bicycle chain. Less than 1 1/2 inches. Square format. Photograped above a T-shirt background placed on the pavement.
This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Viva Magenta. It is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2023 and I'm happy about it! Every year, I buy a Pantone Color of the Year mug, but so far, they have not been available to purchase yet for Viva Magenta. So a screenshot texture will have to do for this year's picture. Why does it seem like I'm hearing the theme from Miami Vice? Happy New Year and HMMM!
