When I started to photograph flowers and insects were what I photographed the most. Over the years my choice clearly shifted to other stuff.
Did you experience such a change in your photography style as you well?
I wonder what will come next for me 😉
……Converging lines for ’Smile on Saturdays’ theme this week of “One Point Perspective” - Railway tracks are well suited to the theme but without the tracks in place any more I thought a smattering of snow would focus the minds eye instead! Happy Smiles On Saturday..…….. Hope you are all getting to grips with the new lockdown restrictions and the do’s & don’t’s! A VERY BIG THANK YOU to ALL the key workers who are carrying on to benefit the rest of us - we applaud you all. Alan;-)👏👏👏👏👏

Plastic - An interesting theme for this week's Macro Monday. I like plastic and as suggested, it wasn't too tough finding a worthy subject in the house. I had a few CD's lying around and thought it would be interesting if I could extract the data via some unconventional means. I chose a torch and applied a little heat to the underside of the CD. Before my eyes, the data started to emerge in the form of little bubbles and I knew I was on to something. For the shot, I added a little sunlight (fleeting sunlight I might add) and my trusty 55mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Micro with a PK-13, 27.5mm extension tube and it was done. Included in the experimentation was my 50mm Pentacon and various extension tube lengths. I liked this one the best but the bokeh of the Pentacon is very unique.
The bubbles don't really contain data but it seemed to fit so I went with it. You may think you're looking at a curved surface but its flat and looks just like a CD with one side melted a bit. Enjoy large.
Subject size: app. 3/4 in X 3/4 in.

Chose a theme for this day’s shoot and it was blue, so set off for Stampede Reservoir to maybe find some great blue sky shots, as the dam was crossed this view seemed to say, this is it, the theme shot of the day…. With the water so low and the contrast of the land and the blue of the sky and water I stopped and took some shots of the area showing the rocky foreground but none of those grasped the theme so took this one with nothing in the foreground but the water and liked it best. As a rule in landscape photography there should be something in the foreground but sometimes rules just do not work and need to be broken. Go for it.
