So you think that 42 is The Answer? To Life, Universe, and Everything? Have you ever wondered what would happen if one of those algorithms we deem infallible and that seem to dominate more and more parts of our lives turned out to be completely flawed? Because only a teeny-tiny bit of data was entered incorrectly? We'd all find us in The Matrix of 1984 sooner than we'd care for. Come to think of it, it's well possible that that is where we already are... Time for a little jail break and a trip (hitch-hiking our ride, of course) through the infinite, free Galaxies of our minds. And since the initial question had already been posed too vaguely, we might easily find that the Answer to all our questions is 51. Or 3. Or... I'll leave it to you ;-) With so many numbers today, I'd say that each and every number is the answer to each and every question :-)
Well, and to answer the question what it is that you see here: It's a glass stopper that once safely sealed a bottle of Rosé wine. These glass stoppers are really nice, they are beautiful, they are reusable, and sometimes they even make a nice macro subject. I have no idea why it says "51" on the stopper's underside, it's certainly not the diameter of that part of it (which is 1,3 cm / 0,51 inches). Maybe it's a type reference? Questions upon questions...
What is out of question, however, is the way I've captured and processed this image. I've illuminated the stopper (which I'd simply propped onto the table with a piece of modeling clay in a half-upright position) with green, red and blue-ish light. For the green light I'd placed a green bottle in front of LED No 1, and the transparent red lid of a chocolate box in front of LED No 2. Light No 3 was my small LED torch which I'd held above the stopper. Processed in Luminar 4.3 for detail enhancement on the "51", and in ON1 where I enhanced the colours, and added a soft vignette and some glow.
Happy Macro Monday, Everyone, stay safe and healthy!

I know why you're here. I know what you've been doing... why you hardly sleep, why you live alone, and why night after night, you sit by your computer ... The Matrix

The hanging telephone is always the signature Matrix reference...So while looking for the exact quote from The Matrix for this photo, I came across some interesting fact as to why Neo calls Tank "Mr. Wizard" in the original soundtrack. It appears to be some reference to the 1960's cartoon "Tudor Turtle". Each episode, Tudor would want to be something he wasn't and have his friend Mr. Wizard (a lizard) wave his magic wand and make him an astronaut or a scientist or whatever. Inevitably, Tudor would quickly get himself into trouble and call out "Help Mr. Wizard," and the lizard would intone "Drizzle, drazzle, druzzle, drome, time for this one to come home." Tudor would be transported back to his old self and be chided by Mr. Wizard to "be happy with what you are."
"The human body generates more bioelectricity than a 120-volt battery and over 25,000 BTUs of body heat. Combined with a form of fusion, the machines had found all the energy they would ever need." — Morpheus, The Maxtrix (1999)

walked around APAP* with mP a few days ago. def one of those must sees when in Seoul. very unexpected project, loads of art & architectural works spread out in an area known mainly for buddhism & mediation. the works aren't very visible from the road, so it's nice to happen upon them while you're strolling through the hills. most of the other people were healthy ajoshis & ajumas out on their daily constitutional.
found this this ajoshi quietly singing to himself in one of the project structures. trying find the names of all the works & artsts/designers in English. from what i've heard, these are some of the participants...MVRDV (Netherlands), Vita Acconci, Didier Fiuza Faustino, Alvaro Siza etc

Perhaps they knew I love challenges and LOVE to play with images...lee.stephens and KpriceWicked challenged me to do a self portrait with the theme "The Matrix".
for their Self-Portrait Project Pool...Never mind that I was crazy busy...Heck this was fun stuff... I went to town!... Be sure to check their work out too!
I knew in my head, starting out, how I wanted it to look. I loved Keanu Reeve's backbend, but as in most things I do, it starts to strike me as funny, hence the shots of my laughing like crazy... Decided to leave those in even without that "Don't mess with me look."
Trainer at my gym said I should do that kick jump. In my outtake, but I thought it looked too much like the 'Karate Kid" so chose to not use it.
I decided to do the Matrix code panel in sets of three's, cubes and spheres...There is a theory that I was going with (a whole other story). I tried darkening my hair in PS, which actually I liked, but they did say "Self Portrait."maybe real, and how I look now?
I spent two days trying to find pictures from a job I shot on the roof of LA's tallest building, the Library Tower but the negatives are somewhere in their own Matrix, in my office files
Chose a metal texture for the background, highlights, on the outfit to give it the shiny leather effect like what "Trinity" wore.
Shot in studio with a white seamless, which I later cursed myself for doing, and wished I'd used my black background, as it made it difficult in cutting and pasting. The black would have saved a lot of detail work and I would have gone to bed before the morning paper arrived!
I used:
Three strobes, one with a green gel (which I ended up not using) Cordless shutter release, (which helps a ton when shooting a SP like this), Nikon D700 with 28-85mm lens.
You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. (The Matrix)

"This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill—the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill—you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember: all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more." Morpheus, The Matrix

Bangkok, known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon or Krung Thep for short, is the capital, largest urban area and primate city of Thailand. It was a small trading post at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River during the Ayutthaya Kingdom and came to the forefront of Thailand when it was given the status as the capital city in 1768 after the burning of Ayuthaya. Bangkok is the world's 22nd largest city by population with approximately registered 8,160,522 residents (July 2007), but due to large unregistered influxes of migrants from the North East of Thailand and of many nations across Asia, the population of greater Bangkok is estimated at nearly 15 million people.
Returning to the capital Bangkok. From our lonely beach on Koh Kood to a Metropole with more than 15 million people. Such a big contrast. Photo taken from a bus window at 1/1300s and ISO 400. It's the so-called Mega Bridge which is part of 13 km long Industrial Ring Road located in Bangkok ´s main industrial area
It's just an ordinary matrix, with rows and columns; it's not The Matrix — Morpheus isn't hiding behind one of the windows there, hopefully!
It's also a view out of my office. :D
