Please see the architecture skyline series below.
Often referred to as a Latin American Miami, Panama City has a rather dense financial district made up of a multitude of ultramodern glass skyscrapers and towers. The F&F Tower, also known as El Tornillo (“The Screw”), stands out as one of the most remarkable buildings on the city’s impressive skyline. The building’s shape is an innovation in Latin American architecture, and the tower was one of the winners of the Emporis Skyscraper Award in 2011.

I was trying to take a pic of this (December!) rose, when a fly arrived. It wasn't very still and I had an hard time to capture it with my manual Diaplan. This is the best pic I was able to take: unfortunately the focus isn't perfect (or the fly moved, I don't remember). In any case, I hope that you will like the result! ;-)
Have a great Crazy Tuesday, dear friends!!!
This mottled blue and white petunia blossom had a small visitor, a colourful fly. These blue and white petunia flowers were growing amongst some other flowers in a front garden.

Do you remember the Mendelian laws of inheritance? We've learned them in school on the basis of how the eye colours of fruit flies (the notorious Drosophila Melanogaster) are inherited to further generations according to dominant or recessive characteristics, although Gregor Mendel himself conducted his groundbreaking genetic experiments with pea plants. Unfortunately, the significance of Mendel's laws was never truly understood or acknowledged in his lifetime (1822 – 1884). His studies, however, were rediscovered three decades later, at the turn of the 20th century, and, following their rediscovery, American biologist Thomas Hunt Morgan (1866 – 1945) began to experiment with Drosophila in his "Fly Room" at Columbia University. It was Morgan who discovered that genes are carried on chromosomes; he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1933. Further Fly experiments (with a less successful outcome) were conducted by a certain Dr. Seth Brundle in 1986 (aka "The Fly"). So where exactly does my image come in here, you may have already asked yourself (if you haven't stopped reading my lengthy introduction long before – which I could totally understand). Well, during one of those numerous teaching experiments with fruit flies, which numerous generations of students have conducted ever since modern genetics became part of school curriculums, something must have gone very wrong. And who knows, maybe Dr. Seth "Brundlefly" Brundle himself had led one of those biology experiments? Experiments in which some dinosaur genes were mixed with those of an innocent fruit fly... Which resulted in the creation the biggest Drosophila the world has ever seen – the Olympic Brachosophila Megalogaster? Nonsense, of course, and you know it ;-) But doesn't this kaleidoscoped image of the Olympic stadium's interior (the roof, mostly, taken at a dutch angle) look just like an ultra close-up of a (fruit) fly's face? Not one that you'd like to see buzzing around your fruit bowl, that's for sure, but let's say that the other "third party genes" that were used in this crazy experiment came from a puppy. So this would be the friendliest, cuddliest giant dinosaur puppy fruit fly you'll ever come across :) OK, I'd rather stop before you start to believe that I was a part of those experiments as well ;-)
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone, stay safe and take care, dear Flickr friends!

Firstly I would like to thank you all for your wonderful comments and favorites, they are very appreciated.

Not long after repositioning myself to get a different angle from my first picture previously posted of the baby # 1 who was sleeping a lot, he suddenly yawn when I had just finished making my setting and here's the shot, the almost. Fluorescent green is the result of the slow exposure and the strong light from the sun crossing the leaves canopy and not a choice from the photographer ... I had also moved in the hope of minimising this effect but without result.
The reason I do not share the exact location of this magnificent owl show is simple, the day after my visit with the friend who as show me the place. Friend I had met for the second time by chance again at the same place as at our first meeting in April at Mud Lake Ottawa. This friend returned to see the baby Owls and on his way out after is photo session of that beautiful public forest, he was stop by bads individuals who arrast the photographers and wanted all their equipment under threat? He informed me that they were very organized and not little thefs at their very beginning ... They ad vehicles with accomplices monitor the roads leading to the site and notifying them if police were on there way. This is the first time I've heard such a story, so one as to be very cautious and do not travel alone in these public places known to attract photographers ....
the Fly.
it was a beautiful iridescent blue green.
sought after by the dogs to snap up. I found him lying on the window sill, dead, but still shining.
I had to draw in wing lines on the original umen on the right. I could just barely see them.
on the left is the inverted positive.

The so called "Proud Boys" are the white supremacist group Trump is so fond of. They have done nothing in their lives to be actually be proud of and they live through their white privilege and by their oppression of others. And yet, they can't even walk in their own communities without a gun and they can't walk into stores with their mask on because no one better impinge on their freedom to cause harm to whomever they wish.
Pride and humans with pride is about having a sense of who you are and living through grace and kindness...of doing the right thing and not being afraid to do the right thing even though you may have been oppressed for your gender identification or orientation. This is something to truly be proud of. This is who are world needs now not those who live by hate and rule by fear.

The Fly by U2 was their first single released from their album Achtung Baby in October 1991
I am not a huge U2 fan but quite liked the album.

For 100x the 2023 edition. Song Titles #76
This long legged fly is one of the tiniest of flies . A beautiful metallic green and is one of the many Dolichopodidae flies. These are so tiny and this one less than 0.63cm (1/4 inch) in length. Not particularly sharp focus but much prettier than the in focus fly I photographed for the song title.
So some days I just go back to playing with light and shadows, today is that day. This fly was a super cooperative subject and I loved the shadow that he cast in the morning light. I have found that you don't have to look too far to find an interesting subject. If you ever feel uninspired, talk a walk and notice the little things. There is so much to see and appreciate if you just slow down to really look.
Looking in on Booth Lake and its little island from the ridge to its SW. The summits to the right are West and East Partner Peaks.
Booth Lake is in the Gore Range and Eagles Nest Wilderness north of Vail, Colorado.
A few wildflowers still around and some very scattered yellow in the aspen.
20th September 2020:
Being a Sunday I had my backup photo in hand if I didn't think of or find something else - our lunch.
But, luckily for me and you Izzy was going manic in the garden for most of the morning. Just before lunch I went out to check she was OK and noticed this on the table. Raced in to get my camera in the hope that it hadn't moved by the time I got out again.
Managed to get 4 photos of it before it flew off and both Graham and I think this was the best of the bunch.

Emmz has a new job... but the pouty little Miss isn't enjoying it one little bit; 'personal assistant to a instantly recognisable, world famous celebrity' the job application said, there was also something about McFly (once a favourite pop band of hers)... but how was Emmz to know that it was Dr Angus McFly the ad was talking about?
...well, ok, perhaps if she'd actually read it properly instead of snapfacing or tweetchatting or whatever youngsters do nowadays!
Let's just hope she googles Professor Kanamit, whose book McFly is studying a little too intently, before he has her cleaning inside the lab's suspiciously large walk-in oven!
Located approximately 22 000 light-years away in the constellation of Musca (The Fly), this tightly packed collection of stars - known as a globular cluster - goes by the name of NGC 4833. This NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image shows the dazzling stellar group in all its glory.
NGC 4833 is one of the over 150 globular clusters known to reside within the Milky Way. These objects are thought to contain some of the oldest stars in our galaxy. Studying these ancient cosmic clusters can help astronomers to unravel how a galaxy formed and evolved, and give an idea of the galaxyâs age.
Globular clusters are responsible for some of the most striking sights in the cosmos, with hundreds of thousands of stars congregating in the same region of space. Hubble has observed many of these clusters during its time in orbit around our planet, each as breathtaking as the last.
