' The sparrow that is twittering on the edge of my balcony is calling up to me this moment a world of memories that reach over half my lifetime, and a world of hope that stretches farther than any flight of sparrows '

Happy weekend :-)

It's anarchy gone insane. I'm on assignment in Pemberton British Columbia, The TV news is just so full of sad, I think God that I have the right to take pictures of beautiful things without any fear. Kenneth

Local legend suggests that this bridge was started by Bishop Henry Cheyne in the late 13th or early 14th century and completed by Robert the Bruce. Whilst this may or may not be true, historical documents show that the bridge we see today was the result of rebuilding work in three phases in the early 17th century.

This was the main crossing on the Don leading to the north from Aberdeen and vice versa prior to the construction of the adjacent Bridge of Don in 1831. Today the Brig o’ Balgownie is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

The petals have fallen but the stamens and style (pistil) of a glory bush, princess flower, or Lasiandra, Tibouchina sp, persist.

Thank you for your visit. I appreciate any faves or comments that you leave very much and I am grateful for invitations too.

It is unfeasible for me to take only one photograph or choose one image that I truly believe captures the essence of that place. It just doesn’t happen that way for me :-)

When traveling the coast of Norway, tunnels are inevitable. Some of them have this architectural modern touch that I found very appealing.

I took the photo, while my husband was driving, through the windshield of our campervan, just to excuse some impurities right up front :-).

Shimmering waters that sometimes remind me of the color and beauty of emerald, in the other moments they are more clear and must be similar to another gemstone that I don't know. Nature is splendid and produces wonders in uncontable colors, so everything is possible.

I uploaded these photos of Lago di Braies again because I want to share with you, Flickr friends, the splendor of this place.

I've disabled the ability to comment on almost all photos. But I will be happy if you, Flickr friends, feel the desire to explore the enchanting details of this magical place.

Happy Sunday to all of you, and a nice week ahead ;)

...That’s why I’d Love to Hang my Hat in Tennessee.

A bit of a twist of the lyrics from George Strait’s 1987 Country Hit Recording : )

Last October, the Mrs. and I enjoyed a week in the Beautiful State of Tennessee. In addition to visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (a Bucket List item) we had a delightful day at the gorgeous Cumberland Mountain State Park located in Crossville Tennessee.

The Byrd Creek Bridge is the centerpiece of the Cumberland Mountain State Park. The seven span bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Cumberland Homesteads Historic District. The Byrd Creek Dam is the largest masonry structure ever built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Men of the Civilian Conservation Corps built this unsuspended bridge between 1935 and 1940, for a 30-acre impoundment of Byrd's Creek. Three thousand five hundred and fifty cubic yards of dirt and rock were excavated and the core, containing 8,000 tons of concrete, is faced with Crab Orchard stone for the 319-foot span. Seven spillways, rising 28 feet above the stream bed, carry the 18-foot wide roadway approximately, which is 16 feet above water level.

Cumberland Mountain State Park began as part of the greater Cumberland Homesteads Project, a New Deal-era initiative by the Resettlement Administration that helped relocate poverty-stricken families on the Cumberland Plateau to small farms centered on what is now the Cumberland Homestead community. The 1,720-acre park was acquired in 1938 to provide a recreational area for some 250 families selected to homestead on the Cumberland Plateau.

BETTER LARGE ON BLACK

when i downloaded this image from my camera i knew instantly that i needed to convert it to black & white with just a bit of tint. to me i can better appreciate this flower's beautiful form, its graceful lines and subtle textures, without the distraction of colors.

For some that phrase would describe their eyes after a late night of partying and ringing in the New Year. For me on this first morning of the 20s, it meant first-light reaching Towers of the Virgin in Zion National Park.

Being a native East-Coaster, who has transplanted to life on the West Coast, I still feel that the New Year occurs when the crystal ball drops in New York, and that's the end. So, with the aide of staid Springdale, Utah, it was easy to get an early bedtime on New Years Eve so we could begin the trek to the Canyon Overlook Trail at 6:00 AM to catch first-light and sunrise from this vantage.

The trail is a relatively flat mile hike with a few tricky spots where the ice and slickrock conspire to give even the most sure-footed concern in the dark. Once we reached the overlook, I was a little concerned that our cold trek may have been for naught, due to the heavy cloud cover. Though they were thick overhead, there still was some clearing to the East, along the sun on the horizon to light a narrow band, reflecting off the cloud bottoms and warming the sheer rocks faces of the Temple of the Virgin ahead. This image was captured about 10-15 minutes before the local sunrise time, and is considerably brighter than what we saw with our eyes, due to the 20-second exposure.

Once the actual sun rays reached the Temple directly, the light only lit the areas seen here in red for less than 5 minutes before disappearing above the clouds for the remainder of the day.

Sometimes you just have to go there...

that bloom, shed and then simply go.

That's the wonders of life: One minute you're here and the Next minute you're gone!

This is where Mother Nature teaches us, how fragile we can become and yet still contain within ourselves, what we really are and should be.

Many thanks for your lovely appreciation of compliments from you here, my dear good flickr friends !!!

°°••• I fall •••°°

Wish that I could find the words

To describe you now

As I am lying next to you

And the world goes quiet

Wish that I could make you see

How you fit me perfectly

And I fall

Fall for you again

We've been through it all

You're the one who understand.

In a world where hope grows thin

You've completed me

And the story left within'

Tells me how to breathe

Wish that I could make you see

How you fit me perfectly.

Stocky heron that roosts in groups in tall trees, usually beside water (including mangroves). Adult is rufous with pale breast and a black cap. Immature is heavy streaked, and can be easily confused with Striated Heron (black crown), Black Bittern (darker, with yellow neck stripe), or Australasian Bittern (which is a much larger bird). (eBird)

--------------

We spent the morning on the Yellow Waters Billabong and Jim Jim Creek of Kakadu National Park, looking for birds and crocodiles. We came across the adult and immature night-herons as we moved slowly through the mangroves and fields lining the river.

Male Blackbird. Judging by the retained brownish flight feathers, this bird was hatched last year. If it gets lucky, it will breed this year and after breeding it will moult into immaculate black all over

Now listen up

She's razor sharp

If she don't get her way

She'll slice you apart

Now she's a cool, cool black

She moves like a cat

If you don't get her game

Well, you might not make it back

She's got the looks that kill

That kill

She's got the looks that kill

That kill

She's got the look

She's got the looks that kill

She's got the looks that kill

Now she's bulletproof

She keeps her motor clean

And believe me, you

She's a number thirteen

The church strikes midnight

She's lookin' louder and louder

She's gonna turn on the juice, boy

Then she turns on the power

She's got the looks that kill

That kill

...that matches your heels, well, its a moment of happy! I was wandering through this pretty sim, and it was a breath of fresh cheerful air and a respite from the snowy landscapes, that although are pretty, are essentially alien to me since it doesn't snow where I live. I was scampering about in my sassy yellow shoes when I spotted this door...inspiration grasped me! I think I might be becoming an artist, y'all! haha Kidding! I was in the mood for a cheery color palette today though. :)

“You need to spend time crawling alone through shadows to truly appreciate what it is to stand in the sun.” ― Shaun Hick

And if to-night my soul may find her peace

in sleep, and sink in good oblivion,

and in the morning wake like a new-opened flower

then I have been dipped again in God, and new created.

And if, as weeks go round, in the dark of the moon

my spirit darkens and goes out, and soft strange gloom

pervades my movements and my thoughts and words

then shall I know that I am walking still

with God, we are close together now the moon's in shadow.

And if, as autumn deepens and darkens

I feel the pain of falling leaves, and stems that break in storms

and trouble and dissolution and distress

and then the softness of deep shadows folding, folding

around my soul and spirit, around my lips

so sweet, like a swoon, or more like the drowse of a low, sad song

singing darker than the nightingale, on, on to the solstice

and the silence of short days, the silence of the year, the shadow,

then I shall know that my life is moving still

with the dark earth, and drenched

with the deep oblivion of earth's lapse and renewal.

And if, in the changing phases of man's life

I fall in sickness and in misery

my wrists seem broken and my heart seems dead

and strength is gone, and my life

is only the leavings of a life:

and still, among it all, snatches of lovely oblivion, and snatches of renewal

odd, wintry flowers upon the withered stem, yet new, strange flowers

such as my life has not brought forth before, new blossoms of me,

then I must know that still

I am in the hands of the unknown God,

he is breaking me down to his own oblivion

to send me forth on a new morning, a new man.

With dark gray upper-parts and a neat white tip to the tail, the Eastern Kingbird looks like it’s wearing a business suit. And this big-headed, broad-shouldered bird does mean business—just watch one harassing crows, Red-tailed Hawks, Great Blue Herons, and other birds that pass over its territory. Eastern Kingbirds often perch on wires in open areas and either sally out for flying insects or flutter slowly over the tops of grasses. They spend winters in South American forests, where they eat mainly fruit.

Great Egret -

From Perla Copernik Cahiers

Like a bride wearing make-up, the colors in the bare parts of the egret’s head become more intense. The bill color changes to a strong orange-yellow, and the lores (the skin around the eye) and eye-ring turn to a lime-green or turquoise-green, especially in males.
