The Avon River is a river in Perth County, Ontario, Canada. The river was named after the River Avon in England when the town of Stratford was founded on its banks in 1832. The Avon River rises northeast of Stratford and flows southwest, entering the North Thames River near St. Marys. It was originally known as the Little Thames River.

George Carter gave this Second Empire style house as a wedding present to his daughter Charlotte. Son-in-law Henry Lincoln Rice son of the Methodist minister became vice-president of Carter's firm.
St Marys physician and public speaker Thomas Sparks moved to the house in 1905. He named it Ercildoune after his birthplace in Scotland.
When Dr. Sparks first moved to St Marys in the early 1890'she lived at 322 Emily St.
The Brant Avenue Heritage Conservation District includes buildings on Brant Avenue between St. Paul Avenue and the Lorne Bridge in the City of Brantford. Although this district includes the Armoury, Brant Ave. Church and the Brantford Collegiate Institute, the majority of the 132 properties are residential, built between 1870 and 1889.

St. Marys is a town in southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is located at the junction of Thames River and Trout Creek, southwest of Stratford and surrounded by the Township of Perth South. It is in the Perth census division but is independent of Perth County. The town is also known by its nickname, "The Stone Town", due to the abundance of limestone in the surrounding area, giving rise to a large number of limestone buildings and homes throughout the town. St. Marys Cement, a large cement producer founded in the town, capitalized on this close feedstock, and grew to be a major producer of cement in the province of Ontario.
St. Marys is home to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. It is the burial place of Arthur Meighen, Canada's 9th Prime Minister. Timothy Eaton, who went on to become one of Canada's greatest retailers, opened his first businesses in Canada in St. Marys

Built in 1824 and rebuit in 1884 the bridge is now closed to vehicular traffic due to its weakening structural integrity. The bridge was built prior to the current age of motorised traffic.

Another image courtesy of jetlag - this time a pic of Tower Bridge from London Bridge. Apparently the "original" London Bridge was falling down so in 1968, an American tycoon bought London Bridge—all 10,000 tons of it—and moved it brick-by-brick to the desert town of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. I didn't not know that until a few year ago - kinda blows my mind!
