Right let's get it out of the way straight off, yes it's me and I happen to be laughing and it shows the reason why I never ever really smile in my pics. I never thought I'd post this pic (Although it's been on my friend Rachel's photostream for some time) as I don't really like it. However I'm in need of a good laugh this morning so here goes (I'll probably delete it later in any case) For whatever reason I decided to not go out last night, its the first time I've missed a Thursday night out in over two years (apart from when I've been elsewhere engaged) so quite sometime, but I just couldn't be bothered to do it. Not sure what that means particularly (if anything at all) other than the fact it's likely to be another two weeks before I get the opportunity to get out again. Therefore I'm somewhat annoyed with myself this morning for passing the chance to get out by, I'm sure 8 hours at work will put me in a better mood. Cesca out 👉

Porterweed's flower head is unusual! The blossoms emerge not at the end but along the middle. The rest of the stem is covered in buds to come or bud remnants. Beautiful in red, purple or pink varieties.
Porterweed is a low growing perennial which blooms year round. Often used as a ground cover, it can also be added to hanging baskets. While considered as a short lived perennial, Porterweed is will self seed or can be propagated by stem cuttings. Even though Porterweed flowers are small and each one only opens for a day, it attracts a large number of butterflies. Bees love it too.
Allow seedheads to dry on plants. Remove and collect seeds... and they'll gladly do their thing! Grow! Porterweed can spread rapidly and there is the chance that it will become aggressive.
Red Porterweed, Stachytarpheta urticifolia, is a butterfly and hummingbird nectar source for a wide variety of butterflies including the Gulf Fritillary, Julia, and Large Orange Sulphur.
