My mother bought these curtains in Manchester in around 1958, the year this fabric design was introduced, and they're still in use. The fabric, as marked on the selvedge is by Barbara Brown, and was produced for the famous London company of Heal's. A Mancunian by birth Brown studied at the RCA in the early 1950s and went on to become one of the most acclaimed designers for Heal's in the 1960s and '70s. The design came in a series of varying colourways such as grey, green and brown.

This costumed gal worked in a shoe/boot shop in the Ren Fair. She was bending down helping a customer to wrap strings around a pair of Ren boots. She looked beautiful, but, the light was low so the shot blurred... But, still, pretty*... :)
