I have a bit of a visual mental block, its been there for a few weeks, but i figure I should try and 'shoot' my way out of it.... Its an odd thing, never really had it before, in fact its normally the opposite image after image poppin into my head until whiskey or throwing myself down a set of stairs Exorcist stylee seems the only chance of respite.
But today I had a little test shoot with Georgie, a Storm model, with the help of Emma Sandham-King. This started off as a simple headshot against a grey background, and ended up somewhere around here...Never give me too much time, i'll over complicate and over-analyse anything given the chance, whether its cooking, dressing or taking a few snaps....
I have only checked this on my latop and the colours may look shocking when on my studio screen so if its gone in the morning you'll know why.
Thanks to Becca Robb for MUA duties, and both Georgie and Emma for their patience, and for Sally as she gave Georgie my card and details when I just sat staring at my coffee muttering about how amazing she is.... As you can tell i may need a break, but dont worry one is planned.

This concept was something I wanted to do for a long time but I didn't know if it was going to work out. So I decided to take a testshoot. There was no testmodel available so I had to model it myself. I prepared the setting, got all the candles on the right place, and positioned my tripod. Right from the beginning I knew it was going to be hard work, I still don't have a schutter remote so I needed to press the shutter myself and then quickly run to the middle of those candles, take a position and do this over and over again.
I have to say I'm quite happy about this testshot (and some others too), I know it's not quite done yet, there can be some improvements, but I will definitely do a remake of this one with a real model.
I hope you'll like it. I definitely had fun making this one, so I decided to start with a 52 weeks project. I'm looking forward to it!

TMax400 is a beautiful film, especially when you got great natural light. It's sharp and contrasty. Also, it's the ideal film for pushing.
The model is somewhat up and coming. I was chocked to learn that she was only 15 (I'd thought at least 17). And she's already signed to an agency in Sweden and one in Germany. She was easy going and dedicated to her craft.
The location is Lund Central station.

Now that i know (at least basics) how it´s done, i need to go and find much cooler place where i can use the same tecnique.. Maybe people involved :) Here i used 259 pictures the easiest way, without any fancy ediding.. My first startrail photo.
We are in the middle of doing testshoots for the new glamour series workshops (starting October 30th).
And this is one of the new models Ingrid.
She will actually also be the model on the 30th.
During the testshoots we do very simple setups to see how the model reacts in front of my camera and Ingrid not only impressed me with her posing and expressions but most of all with her personality, this is one awesome model for the workshops :D

I wanted to check out some setups in my ministudio, so I asked my friend/muse/model Erika to pose for me.

This picture is lit with just a medium softbox on a studio strobe to camera left (almost next to the model for hight contrast). Triggered with Pocketwizards.No complicated lighting setup at all but I'm still pretty new to studio photography and I'm trying to get the details right.
First strobist shot with a Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8....single bare YN560II on 1/4 set off with cyber syncs. (1/200, F/9 ISO200 and @16mm
A short testshoot of beautiful Jessica in the Alsterpark@Hamburg. Tried a new style of raw developement, a kind of highkey with help of the HSL Tab and pushing the filters for red, yellow an orange.
Shot with a Nikon D810 and the Zeiss Apo Sonnar 2/135 at a very close distance (near limit).

I got some odd residues on this and previous roll of FP4+ that I developed. I guess that it's the antihalation stuff that got bad prematurely, despite having a couple years on the best before date (shot in 2018, exp 2021). No other film (TMX in 120 and 135), that I used the same soup with showed any signs of residues. Especially not the 135 films that I developed after this roll.
Another interesting thing is that they haven't fixed this broken window 2½ months after I shot this photo. Sure it's cool for effect, but is it really that hard to replace an orange window on a bridge over a train track?

Whenever I shoot FP4+ in medium format I shoot it as ISO 100 film, and develop as 125. I do this because it's too bothersome to change the ISO on the meter, especially since it doesn't follow the scale (I set the dot to 64 for correct measurments at ISO 100) with modern batteries and the Arax focusing screen. And I would like to take some reference readings with another camera before trusting it. This because as far as I know the meter only behaves linearly with mercury batteries. So, whenever I want to shoot for instance ISO 400 film, I set the max aperture to 5.6 instead of 2.8 on the meter.
When shooting FP4+ I've also noticed that negatives comes out a fair amount denser with this particular camera. So I'm also considering that the 1/250s is a bit slower, maybe a third or half a stop (which is to be expected on a old mechanical camera). Which in turn would give an accumulative effect of 2/3-5/6 stops over exposure.
I've shot some ISO 400 film and I haven't noticed anything dramatic there. So I would say that the 1/250s setting overexpose less than half a stop over exposure, since I can't notice it on 400 film.
This was the second time I shot with this particular model. She was in the middle of changing agencies, because she never got any assignments from her first agency.
