The charming little hotel where I stayed in Venice had a terrace restaurant where I ate one night. The hotel was the home of the famous composer, Vivaldi, and was on St. Mark's Basin. It was also next to this great canal where one had a view of several bridges.

Minerva Terrace is the primary feature of the Mammoth Hot Springs Area. It goes through cycles of activity where there may be no water at all to such large travertine deposits that it covers the boardwalk. The park actually installed a moveable boardwalk just in case.
A figure really shows the extent of the rice terraces and the great work that must have been required to carve them into the mountain.
Just as amazing is how well the terraces continue to hold up (over 600 years since they were started) and be useful year after year to this day.

In these hot times, nothing better than having a snack in the shade of an umbrella in the street while you watch the people go by...
A beautiful terrace in an even more beautiful garden in a delightful place we rented for a few days up near Mendocino in California.
Afternoon in soft backlight at Longsheng Rice Terraces, also called the Longji Rice Terraces.
They are located in Longsheng County, about 100 kilometres (62 mi) from Guilin, Guangxi, China.
We were happy to see this landscape just before the harvest, which was postponed for a few days due to a festival.

Terraces at Ollantaytambo were built to a higher standard than common Inca agricultural terraces; for instance, they have higher walls made of cut stones instead of rough fieldstones. This type of high-prestige terracing is also found in other Inca royal estates such as Chinchero, Pisaq, and Yucay.
The terraces were dug following the natural curves of the landscape. The thickness of the walls stores heat during the day and diffuses it at night. Thanks to this method it has been possible to obtain a different microclimate as one goes down and gets closer to the centre. An average temperature difference of 5°C was observed, whereas the difference is only 0.5°C over comparable height differences at the same location. Due to its sheltered position, each of the terraces represents approximately one thousand metres of altitude under normal growing conditions.

Stretching for some 30 km along the northern shores of Lake Geneva, Lavaux Vineyard Terraces is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This photo was taken in the vineyard near a small town named Epesses.
Abandoned after the Spanish conquest, the site of Moray, composed of a series of terraces, was found in 1932, covered with jungle, by Shirppe Johnson's expedition. Currently only one 'amphitheatre' has been restored, but Moray also has two other smaller ones in poorer condition. One of these two smaller ones adjoins the larger one and is, in fact, an integral part of this monumental ensemble
