The morning fog had burned off the valley as I headed east on CA 58 towards Tehachapi, Bakersfield behind me. I wasn't sure how this would come out, the sun was above and directly in front of me, so bumped up the contrast and used my slightly tented windshield and fast shutter to reduce the brightness. Also luck to find one of the few spots on this steep climb big enough to pull my rig off the roadway.

During our one night stay in Visalia, CA, we went for a walk after dinner. There was a lot of noise from a nearby park so we went over to investigate. It turned out to be a sprint car racing. Something none of us had ever seen before. They noise was incredible, so there was nothing else to do beside watching, then drinking beer and eating popcorn. We felt like real americans:-) The popcorn guy was a very nice chap, telling me a lot about the sport. He would probarbly tought me even more, but the noise put an end to that. Anyhow, the show was fantastic, the beer was great and I got a really nice talk with the popcorn man, whom you can see in the red tent, getting ready to close for the evening as we walked home.

Spent 4 hours hiking this 7.2 miles trail with 2,153 ft elevation gain. The view is certainly worth the challenge.
Today I took a long walk in the sunshine. It seems like forever since I have done that - much too long.
Although I love b&w photography (probably 75% of my images are b&w), to brighten things up around here for spring after what seems like a VERY long winter, I've decided to post only colour images this month. Actually, I noticed that Joseph did this in february & I thought it was a good idea...so I stole it!

This was taken in Oregon at my friend Brendon's flickr meet up that he hosted. There were about 50 of us living in tents on his property for the week. I know I say this about every meetup/gathering I attend but it was an amazing experience and I am so inspired to take photography more seriously now thanks to it.
Also, I've finally released some of my music, check out the first song in my project here

(I'll get this 52 weeks project done eventually. I'd rather have good images I like than a bunch of rushed terrible ones)
Pegs holding down the big white tent, where they were running the competition for the best dressed zombies.
In 1968, residents of the city's South End protested the dislocation of neighbors and the construction of a new parking garage by occupying the site on Dartmouth Street and Columbus Avenue across from the Back Bay Station with a tent city. By 1998, although 20 years in the making, a new development devoted to affordable housing was opened. The building is today known as Tent City. Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
Boston, Massachusetts, Estados Unidos.
The view of the city from the top of the MAS was worth the hike up the many escalators inside the building. Did I mention that the climb to the top was free?
If you don't mind not having a loo in the room or a dingo carrying on and a donkey braying through out the night, then check out this lodging. The air-con worked well and beds were comfortable per say.
This is the Governor's Mansion at the Sharlot Hall Museum in downtown Prescott.
In the summer of 1864, workers under the direction of three contractors (Samuel E. Blair, Daniel Hatz, and John Raible) built this log house as the governor’s home and office. It is the oldest building associated with Arizona Territory still standing on its original location.
Called a “mansion” because it was very upscale and permanent compared to the shanties and tents of the time, it enjoyed a place of prominence in the young community. In the 1920s, thanks to Sharlot Hall, the building was repurposed to hold her collections of historic artifacts and the “Gubernatorial Mansion Museum” opened its doors to the public in 1928. Upon her death in 1943, the Museum was renamed in her honor.
Today it is furnished based on a letter written by Margaret McCormick and dated April 1, 1866, written to her friend Emma Denike of Rahway, New Jersey, where she describes “her home.” The Mansion also houses exhibits describing its construction and featuring artifacts found during restoration work in 1981.

In 1928, a remarkable woman named Sharlot Hall saw the need to preserve Arizona’s cultural heritage. Today, her vision has grown into a lush campus of 11 exhibit buildings—eight of which are historic, with one included on the National Register of Historic Places. We invite you to explore these unique pieces of our collection.
Sharlot Hall Museum is named after its founder, Sharlot Mabridth Hall (1870-1943), who became well-known as a poet, activist, politician, and Territorial Historian (the first woman to hold a salaried office in Arizona). She was one of the West’s most remarkable women. As early as 1907, Ms. Hall saw the need to save Arizona’s history and planned to develop a museum. She began to collect both Native American and pioneer material. In 1927, she began restoring the first Territorial Governor’s residence and offices to house her extensive collection of artifacts and documents. The “Gubernatorial Mansion Museum” opened in 1928. After her death in 1943, the museum was re-named in her honor.
Today, the Sharlot Hall Museum features eleven exhibit buildings (six of which are historic), compelling exhibits, and beautiful gardens, which serve as the setting for numerous public festivals and events. The east wing of the Lawler Exhibit Center presents the Pre-History of Arizona’s Central Highlands featuring the time of the Beasts to the first indigenous peoples; the main gallery provides a venue for temporary exhibits and displays; and the west wing provides a venue for special events and temporary exhibits.

Sharlot Mabridth Hall (October 27, 1870 – April 9, 1943) was an American journalist, poet and historian. She was the first woman to hold an office in the Arizona Territorial government and her personal collection of photographs and artifacts served as the starting collection for a history museum which bears her name.
The City of Arts and Sciences in València is located in the former riverbed of the river Turia, which is flanked on both banks by the city's arterial roads. The architects came up with these elaborately designed ‘tents’ made of white glazed ceramic pieces glued to the surface in mosaic form, thus creating a modern work of art, as a boundary between the building complex of the City of Arts and Sciences and the arterial road. It is possible that they help to dissipate heat and exhaust fumes from the garage below. Or perhaps they are intended to express the fact that it is also important to queue for tickets in good time for concerts and other events in the City of Arts and Sciences and, if necessary, to pitch your tents in front of the opera house. However, all these statements of purpose are pure conjecture on my part; nothing precise is known.
Tent Rocks, also called Kasha-Katuwe, is a national monument administered by the Bureau of Land Management located on Cochiti Pueblo land in northern New Mexico. The conical rocks were formed by erosion of the soft volcanic pumice ejected by an eruption in the nearby Jemez Mountains.

Pelley "really got into shooting with the SX-70 camera (the first SLR Polaroid) and the Land Camera when i was in college, and more recently got into shooting with the 680 (the next SLR Polaroid) when SX-70 film was discontinued. i still shoot with Land Cameras, but the 680 is my go-to camera. I think I was 23ish when I got the SX-70 and my first Land Cameras."
