What looks like a 3D surface actually is the flat surface of a finely woven fabric. It's the small pouch LOQI tote bags come in. I don't use it to store the folded-up bag when I'm not using the latter. I'm keeping extra camera batteries, SD cards, and other photo-related small things in these pouches. The pattern that creates such a nice 3D effect is the "Sagmeister & Walsh Beauty Pattern", a mesmerising white-on-black pattern that I'd describe as "space worms" ;) And of course, the printed pattern is much smaller on the pouch than it is on the bag.

This is a simple one-shot image but it was a little tricky to find the right angle to get the best and most harmonious bokeh effect. I'm aware of the fact that from this angle, the "focus line" is wafer-thin. But it's there, and I think there's enough sharpness to make the image work.

I used one single (two, please see my P.S.) light source, the natural light photo lamp from above (and natural light from the windows, of course). Processed mostly in DXO and LR (the basics), with finishing touches in Analog Efex.

HMM, Everyone!

P.S. I forgot to mention that I also put my small LED flashlight inside of the small pouch for some backlight.

The National Textile Museum (Muzium Tekstil Negara) is located near Independence Square and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The building dates to 1905 and was the original headquarters of the Federated Malay States Railway. The railway moved in 1917 and the building housed numerous businesses and government offices until 2010 when it became the National Textile Museum. The building is in the moorish architectural style.

What a difference a full day of work make. All the stem stitch bullion knots are laid down and the lucet cords are added, it makes a lovely blue circle.

Enjoy your friday!

Muzium Adat Istiadat Diraja Kelantan

Pada zaman pemerintahan Sultan Ahmad, bangunan Istana Jahar in! terus didiami oleh anakandanya Long Kundur.

Adindanya Long Mansur kemudiannya ditabal menjadi sultan menggantikan Long Kundur, dan Long Senik (anakanda kepada Long Kundur), pula dilantik menjadi Tengku Indera Mahkota.

Number 8 of this wrapped symbolic blanket series is a sweet one.

Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman during Ramadhan's month.

This is the first time I stitch on painter's linen. I'm happy that stitching on this new surface doesn't create big obstacles, sofar ...

Enjoy your sunday!

The National Textile Museum, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Slow but surely all the knitted parts get attached and the blue beauty reveals herself.

Enjoy your friday!

Yesterday I got really lucky and being over the moon with some new goodies I simply had to play with them. Started last night and finished it just now, the chores had to wait, and I'm happy with the result. It is different from my other blankets but I love it anyway.

Tak Anni og Hannah.

Time to get some chores done!

Enjoy your friday!

And this is the result. More than 40 cords, each 2 meters long.

Lots of hours spent on chasing the idea of making some sort of sculpture. Keep your fingers crossed for me because I still have no idea whether it will work or not ... :-)

Now that the book is ready, it is time to start getting the pieces I have ready to be sewed in. So this morning I gently washed and dried them. A small start but it is a start!

In stead of knitting I decided to make a piece of needle lace with sock yarn. It takes a while but I like the effect so far.

Have a great start of your week!

This project is one of the sums that came from the story behind Unknown maker and the Faith, hope, love-exhibition.

The pieces of crochet are made by someone but their work ended up at a thrift store. I wrapped them together, just like the yarn pictures, and made a symbolic blanket from them.

Previously I already told you that I ditched the first two attempts and I'm so happy I did because now the piece has so much more meaning for me, and that makes me very happy!

Have a great start of your weekend!

Texture is the most enduring and ubiquitous underpinning of form... certainly a calming, meditative and appealing world for both the eye and mind.

A quote of Lynda Lehmann

This is hiding under the sea of blue, the photo I shared yesterday with you. One of the final ideas that is gonna live in my Big Blue Book. For me this one is special since it is the first time that I did a herringbone stitch with bullion knots with a strip of knitting tucked under it.

Started stitching on another canvas. Whether or not it will become a blanket I don't know. This time there will be circles which leaves more open space. But there is only one way to find out and that is make it!

A few weeks ago you could see the result of an extravaganza of crocheted trims. Today the trims are handmade laces.

A detail picture of another way of adding texture

The last knitted textile painting is made. Slowly but surely I'm coming to the end of this series!

The two large circles are done, they really have a big impact on the piece.

To create the next page I need 7 embellished strips of paper, 4 cm x 19 cm. They didn't seem so large and so I thought, this is going to be a quick page. Ha, leave it to me to make it time consuming. This strip has 4 rows of chainstitch, 78 bullion knots of 25 wraps and a piece of lucet cord, of course all done in wool.

The last stitches are laid down, the last pieces of paper cut off and this new mandala is framed.

Have a great start of your weekend!

Another symbolic blanket is finished. Tak Anni og Hannah.

and yes, it is still blue ... :-))

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

For those who are wondering. At the moment I am stitching seed stitches on paper A3. The whole page need to be filled with seed stitches in different hues of blues. (Is there any other color? :-))

This page will be come a background or at least that's the plan.

The embroidery part of the sample is done and I'm happy with the result.

The next time you see it, it will be living in my book ... :-)
