I just loved that bell and the watchman, who seemed to be in deep thought looking, as I leant over the low boat side rails to get a good reasonable capture from some distance, and with the boat going up and down a bit, due to the river water getting a bit rough at this point. I said thanks to my brother Lee, who realized what I was trying to do, and he started supporting me by holding onto my back teeshirt and the next passenger to my side: " Are you ok and alright?
I said Yes, He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother!
This is one of my favourite captures of that day, and I am well pleased with my editing and processing on this one!

Let us admire once again the upper Colca Valley with all these extraordinary agricultural terraces, fruit of an obstinate human work.
The morning is now well advanced, the weather is nice and warm, we were in shirtsleeves and teeshirt to enjoy this gorgeous landscape.

Un panorama spectaculaire
Admirons une fois de plus la haute vallée du Colca avec toutes ces extraordinaires terrasses agricoles, fruit d'un travail humain acharné.
La matinée est maintenant bien avancée, il fait beau et chaud, on a pu se mettre en bras de chemise et en tee-shirt pour déguster ce superbe paysage.

On the way back from the Colca Valley to Arequipa, a brief but violent offensive from General Winter was waiting for us, like in a Game of Thrones scenery.
The weather was already very threatening in the descent of the pass of Patapampa, the rain came, then the snow with big flakes, a real snowstorm. In a few minutes, the road turned into an ice rink.
Our bus driver was scared, driving at a speed of 30-40 km/h (about 20 mph). Then, we had to stop, a small convoy was stopped in front of us.
I then thought back to the ghost we saw on the the mountain side just after the pass, as if he had warned us to be cautious about the road.
The change of weather had been spectacular, as often in high mountains (we were here at over 4000 m - 13000 ft altitude). In the late morning, we were still in teeshirt under a bright sun in the high valley of Colca!

L'hiver vient ?
Sur la route de retour de la vallée du Colca vers Arequipa, une offensive brève, mais violente, du Général Hiver nous attendait, tout un décor de Game of Thrones.
Le temps était déjà très menaçant dans la descente du col de Patapampa, la pluie est arrivée, puis la neige à gros flocons, une vraie tempête de neige. En quelques minutes, la route s'est transformée en patinoire.
Notre chauffeur de bus n'en menait pas large, roulant à 30-40 km/h. Puis, on a été obligé de s'arrêter, un petit convoi était à l'arrêt devant nous.
J'ai alors repensé au fantôme apperçu sur la montagne juste après le col, comme s'il nous avait averti de se méfier de la route.
Le changement de temps avait été spectaculaire, comme souvent en haute montagne (on était ici à plus de 4000 m d'altitude). En fin de matinée, on était encore en teeshirt sous un soleil éclatant dans la haute vallée du Colca !

a spray bottle with cool water can be helpful, just spray some on your face, and esp a teeshirt dampened with a cool spray really helps to cool you if you don't have access to a cool basement!
i always like to show cooling images from the opposite season during a hot summer!

For some reason I woke up at 2 AM while camping in our van at Liard Hot Springs on the Alaska Highway. Looked outside and saw the lights. Stumbled outside in my teeshirt and underwear, shivering in the cold, and fired off a few shots without tripod or any real control of the camera.
The most beautiful sights I see usually have lots of green in them. It is said the human eye can detect more shades of green than any other color.
This image was originally in answer to a weekly photo challenge . . . "Favorite Color". So this assignment was easy . . . all I had to do was post one of my landscapes and I was finished for the week. But that would not be in the right spirit of the challenge. So, since I love golfing (on a green golf course) where it requires green money to pay the green fees. I gathered a light-green shirt and a green pair of pants and put some money into the pocket . . . and I am now ready to dress for golf.
