My little backyard squirrel participates in a scene set out on my picnic table. Thanks to my sister Jana for the darling tea set and my neighbor for the little pram and a former co-worker for the rocking chair. As you can imagine, there were lots of 'other' shots before I got this one with the paws on the pram.

I invite you to tea!

What do you like - with oregano, with lime?

What? Don't you know? How can this be?

Well, I'll tell you about this magic - sit down closer ...

and ... listen to me carefully:

Mint tea will calm your soul,

cinnamon and vanilla will fill you with warmth,

oregano will set you up for tenderness and love,

Will give strength to ivan tea and tart St. John's wort ...

Or maybe add spices for sophistication?

What do you say?Do you know the oriental taste of tea?

In a bowl, with milk - hot and fragrant ...

Or just an apple?..Decide which one?

I invite you to tea,

seasoned with sincere conversation,

In a bite with the magic of the blizzard song outside the window.

Let winter break into the house by knocking on the door shutter -

We are so cozy and warm here, over tea......

At the Spadina Museum, once home to the Austin family, Toronto’s only museum represents the 20’s and 30’s. Visitors are introduced to 19th and 20th century etiquette, comparing the life of the famous aristocratic family in Downton Abbey with the life of the Spadina Museum’s original owners. The Blue Garland set that also appears in the series is displayed in the museum’s bedroom. The museum offers afternoon tea also for paid visitors.

😀 HaPpY CrAzY Tuesday 😀

If you follow my photostream, you will know that I have a very large family of bears who have all sorts of fun adventures, and life is never dull.

However, not all my bears feature regularly, or even partake in these bear adventures. These tend to be a small contingent of very old and antique bears who live with me, who prefer the more genteel and sedate pastimes of their youth as they live out their dotage with me.

One such bear is Malmsbury, who is a very precious and early German velvet mohair plush bear from around 1910. He has articulated limbs and a head that turns, dark glass bead eyes, calico paw pads, and he once had a growler in his stomach, the depression of which is still visible on his tummy (hidden artfully today by a pink grosgrain ribbon). The early growlers consisted of weighted bellows, often made of cardboard, wood, and oilcloth, which emitted a growling sound when the bear was tipped over. Being over 110 years of age, his growler no longer works. He is very heavy, as his innards consist of Wood Wool (Excelsior), which is a product made of wood slivers cut from logs. It provided a firm shape in early teddy bears, but was not soft to the touch, which is possibly one of the reasons why Malmsbury's limbs are in such fine condition.

Malmsbury enjoys nothing more when the day is fine than taking tea in a fine china cup, sitting in the garden on the lawn in a comfortable Peacock Chair, beneath a vintage parasol to protect his pale golden complexion from the sun. Perhaps you'd care to join us for a tea?

As Malmsbury pre-dates colour photography, I have given this image a vintage treatment and washed out the colour to make it appear as though it has been hand tinted, as so many special photographs from the Edwardian era were.

Malmsbury's teacup and saucer are part of a Cinderella tea set made by TG Green in Derbyshire in the 1880s, decorated with chocolate brown transfers from the story. The parasol is a 1920s Art Deco French child's parasol made of an early form of artificial silk, featuring a handle of a little boy in red wearing a beret, made of Bakelite. Malmsbury's Peacock Chair was a present this Christmas just gone from my dear Flickr friend and fellow fossicker of treasures, Kim BKHagar *Kim*.

Please do not worry!

I am a very gentle person and I mourn about every crack or chip in one of my child's tea sets. This was an accident and it happend in 2017. I always wanted to use the little red toy hammer in one of my pictures.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NANUK: *Sits on the sofa and sighs deeply as he sips his cup of hot tea and reads a book.*

PADDY: “Hullo Nanuk!”

NANUK: “Oh! Hullo Paddy.” *Smiles.*

PADDY: “What’s are you up to, dear Nanuk?”

NANUK: “Oh, I am chasing the winter chill away, Paddy.” *Sighs deeply again.*

PADDY: “Well, I know how much you don't like the cold of winter, Nanuk."

NANUK: "Indeed I don't, Paddy, although it is warmer here during winter than it is at Mummy Marian's in the Nethelands."

PADDY: "Oh yes, Nanuk, but obviously still cold enough to cause you some discomfort."

NANUK: "Yes Paddy." *Shivers and pulls his hood more tightly around his head.*

PADDY: "So, how do you do it, Nanuk? Keep the winter chill at bay, I mean?” *Settles down next to Nanuk on the sofa, and makes himself comfortable*

NANUK: “Well , it doesn't always work, Paddy, but today it is, because it is sunny. It might be cold outside, but when the sunshine streams through the windows, it is magically transformed into warmth, so I sit in a pool of sunshine, wrapped up in my favourite cape and hood that Mummy Marian crocheted for me, sip tea and read books about summer time.”

PADDY: *Looks at book and then at Nanuk.* “Does that really work, Nanuk?"

NANUK: "Like I said, Paddy, not always, but today it is working splendidly, so I am very happy. Why do you ask, Paddy?"

PADDY: "Well, I am asking, Nanuk, because I am a little bit cold today and I could do with some warming up."

NANUK: "Oh well, snuggle in with me, Paddy! There is plenty of sunshine coming through the window, making heat. Daddy has kindly just refilled the teapot for me, so there is plenty of warming tea for you, and together we can read about a summer that took place over one hundred and fifteen years ago. We can chase away the winter chill together!"

PADDY: "Oh thank you, Nanuk! What a marvellous idea!"

NANUK: "It is also very nice to have some company here on the sofa." *Smiles.*

PADDY: "Well, it is also very nice to have your company, Nanuk." *Smiles.*

Paddington and Nanuk are reading my first edition copy of "An Edwardian Summer", which is a wordless, beautifully illustrated picture book by John S. Goodall, first published in 1976 by McMillan in London.

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.

He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my bear family.

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, there was a bear called Nanuk. Nanuk is a Polar Bear. The Teddy Bear Orphanage in the Netherlands recently contacted my friend Mummy Marian who is well known for being a generous host for bears who need a home. They told her that Nanuk has been living at the Teddy Bear Orphanage for quite some time. They also told Mummy Marian that he's very unhappy. Sweet Nanuk was born with a rare disease: poor body temperature regulation. He\'s always cold! The Teddy Bear Orphanage were looking for someone who lives in a country where it never freezes. Mummy Marian immediately thought of me, as like her, I am well known for being a generous host and making my home available to bears who need a family. Mummy Marian felt that Australia (where I live) would be the most perfectly wonderful place for Nanuk to live: a warm country with me as his Daddy, and many bear friends to make a family for him. I considered Mummy Marian’s request, and I immediately said “yes”! I think Nanuk will be a very happy Polar Bear, living with me and all my bears. We don’t know the end of the story yet, because of course, Nanuk’s tale is only just beginning! However, I do think he will live happily ever after!

Theme: Celebration

Size: Less than 3x3 inches

The subject is the Chinese character meaning double happiness and the head of an imperial dragon on the side of a small porcelain tea cup. The other side of the tea cup has the same character and a phoenix.

The dragon symbolises the groom/ male and the phoenix the bridegroom/ female.

This small tea cup belong to a set used for the ' traditional tea ceremony' during our wedding celebration. The same set was also called to service during our childrens' wedding.

There are 2 light sources. An overhead incandescent table lamp at 12 o'clock and a LED torchlight at 5 o'clock trained on the eyes of the dragon.

Many thanks for your visit, comments and faves...it is always appreciated...

A lovely cup of tea with jasmine petals

Wonderful, sweet and delicate fragrance!

The beauty of jasmine is not eternal and drips like tears,

Those petals that beckon us to them.

Put the delicate "velvet" in the kettle,

pour boiling water in a crystal stream.

And now from the cups

We are drinking the divine drink again!....

A cup of tea in our Santa Tea Set?
