I've seen this twice, so I'm not sure it was a coincidence or intentional. A raptor (first time, a Red-tailed Hawk, second time, a Bald Eagle) was sitting on a branch, minding its own business. A Pileated Woodpecker came along and landed above it in the tree. No reaction from the raptor, until the woodpecker let out its very distinctive and loud call. Both times the raptor had a very visible startle response. After the raptor nearly jumped out of its feathers, the woodpecker left. I didn't record the incident, although it would have been amusing. So instead, I will leave you with this image of a Pileated Woodpecker I got last year.
This beauty teased me and I simply couldn't let it get away :)

Driving home this afternoon the high cloud kept appearing and fading out, promising much but probably going to rush off as the sun set...
After dinner I 'gave in' to the little voice and ducked over to Boonerah Point .. Just on spec...
The sun didn't quite get under that cloud.. still it had a couple of moments worth taking in.

Hardly the most original of posts but, if you were spending time in Devon in the 1970s, this was one you just had to get.
Not the class 52 "Western" I was desperately hoping for, but an as yet un-named class 50 no. 50003 doing the honours as she bursts under the bridge at Teignmouth on to the sea-wall section, with an unidentified London Paddington express.

Bastian focused on his Catch-Me-If-You-Can toy. Posted for the "Happy Caturday" group theme "The Look".
Under the round carpet is a rotating feather toy that moves in very intriguing ways. It changes speed and direction and even pauses for a moment, only to start again when least expected.

In this series I've taken you from the courtship, to brooding the results of the courtship to the end result using the mom as a taxi.
A Clarks Grebe mom giving here chick a "birdseye" view of its surroundings. One chick showing and the other just a baby bump.
A buddy and myself came out to the lake in hopes of finding this scene. Only three taxis with chicks being showcased this day riding on the back of their very protective moms But, soon the lake will be full of Clarks and Western grebes with baby bumps on and beneath their plumage going for a lake stroll. The dads are not far off always providing food for mom and the chicks until they can fend for themselves.

This is my first attempt at a boudoir kind of shot. It's not easy! I wish we had tried more poses because it was really fun (for me, anyway). I'd love to try more in the future.
This was the very first pose we did. You'd think we'd warm up with the fashion shots first but since my friend Susan made the girls up in the master bathroom we decided to shoot the boudoir shots in the master bedroom first.
Vectron DE Class 247 number 909 is a dedicated locomotive for working the Niebüll to Westerland car shuttles. 909 is seen crossing the causeway that links the island of Sylt to the north west German mainland with the 1745 departure from Westerland. On this evening the sun was obscured by rain cloud after rain cloud with just the occasional teasing glint.
909 has the meerist hint of a glint on an otherwise showery leaden skied evening.
