I saw this recipe for French onion fondue on Tasting Table and immediately knew I had to make it. What could be better than onion soup, but even cheesier and for dipping!!!??? We served the dip with thinly cut and toasted baguette chips (great way to use up slightly stale baguettes, ahem).

The recipe is super easy to make but when we do it again I would probably make a few changes. I thought the flavor was a little heavy on the Worcestershire sauce so I would probably add half the amount called for and slowly add more as needed (we only used about 4.5lbs of onions so I probably needed to cut back a little anyway). Also, I would consider putting in a couple thin slices of baguette between the onion dip and the gruyere before I broil it. I always just thought the French did this because it made for a piece of soggy cheesy tasty bread, but now I've realized that the bread is very useful for absorbing all the oil that comes out from the cheese when it melts.
