18th December 2012 - Panavia Tornado GR4 'ZA402' taxis up the active at Bae systems facilty in Warton, Lancashire. ready for a long and arduous tanker trial with one of the new Airbus A330 MRTT aircraft.
This particular 'Tonka' ( a long time trials aircraft for Bae Systems) was reduced to spares at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire to help keep the rest of the GR4 fleet flying until the F35 comes into service around 2020,
I was fortunate enough to be at Leeming for an international excersise when she flew in for the last time...
The port side anchor of the chemical tanker Cape Daly, spotted at Bolivar Roads off the coast of Galveston, Texas.
There is darkness within her,
Transgression by the tonne.
An itinerant slick of foul intent,
A shadow on the ocean’s lung.
Black and viscous are her plans,
For retching gulls, the crude of man.
So we, the foam and shifting sands,
Evade her course as best we can.
Bleak summer skies above the Bristol Channel.

Not really a tanker; it just sort of looked like that by the time I finished. It's the top of the structures at Seattle's Gassworks Park.

Here the OKTAN calls at the port of Swinoujscie with the help of a pilot boat. The OKTAN (IMO: 9251755) is an oil/chemical tanker and sails under the flag of the Faroe Islands. The total length (LOA) is 99.94 meters and the width is 16 meters.

The chemical tanker Obsidian docked in the evening light at the Terminal Remota, Progreso, Yucatán, Mexico.
The last weekend ended luckily in rail themed pictures. One of them was the TSAM-5 type locomotive of MMV Zrt. which pulled a loaded kerosene train from Hegyeshalom. The destination of the 22 tanker cars was the Budapest liszt Ferenc International Airport, the largest of its kind in the country. The colourful freight train just entered the station of Budaörs, when I captured it.

I used 120 size roll film, but re-spooled it onto the old 620 spools in a dark bag. The contemporary 120 spools were too big to fit in this camera.
