Hidden in shadow, the sun gleaming over the glass cockpit.

I took this image at the Much Marcle Large Model Air Show, which was held over the 1st and 2nd September 2018 in Ledbury, Herefordshire. This event showcases enthusiasts of aero modelling, both building and flying of radio-controlled fixed wing model aircraft powered by internal combustion engines or increasingly by electric motors. Models flown at the show cover a very wide range of types, from the earliest days of flight right up to modern jets. The largest is around half full size and a is a superb spectacle against the rolling hills which surround Ledbury, and made even better by a weekend of warm summer sun. This Spitfire Mk Vc is painted in desert camouflage, as used in North Africa, and sticks out like a sore thumb over the green fields of Cambridgeshire!

The stick figure painted on the side is a character known as 'The Saint' a kind of crime-fighter/do-gooder named Simon Templar, who featured in a series of novels by Lesley Charteris. The Saint first appeared in the late 1920s, although many of us are more familiar with his 1960s tv incarnation, where he was played by Roger Moore. The other emblems on the plane are brooms to tally the number of 'sweeps' the aircraft had made.

The Spitfire Mk V was a modified Mk 1, with a more powerful Merlin engine and, importantly, an improved carburettor design that didn't lose power in negative-g manoeuvres (a distinct disadvantage if you were being shot at by the Luftwaffe!) This aircraft also has two cannons fitted in each wing, rather than the more usual single cannon plus two machine guns.

Note also the yellow tab painted across the wheel rim and tyre to check if the tyre has moved relative to the rim - time for a change, if so.

So for mid America a Great Britain shot is a challenge, so went with the Queen Elizabeth II and the Fox Hunt for a GB scene. I guess I could have went with Gigabyte for GB 😉...the plate is from Staffordshire, England.

Egy vidám tavaszi napon döcög Abaúj-vidékén a mellékvonalak igáslova, egy Bzmot motorvonat (Studenka-MÁV M152, Bzmot 202). A térség e részén a MÁV 98-as sz. vasútvonala (Szerencs-Abaújszántó-Hidasnémeti) vezet át, mely igen szép vonalvezetéssel rendelkezik, a vonatból a tájra kiváló panoráma nyílik, különösen azon szakaszon, ahol a gerincen vezet a vasút. A vonal elhalad többek között Boldogkő váránál is, mely egy kedvelt turisztikai célpont a környéken. Mint az országban oly sok mellékvonalon, így itt is a képen látható/ahhoz hasonló a jellemző járműtípus. Sajnos a felső szakaszán, mely szebb is igen kevés vonat közlekedik. Mozdonyos vonat is ritkaságszámba megy arrafele, csupán az alsó szakaszon vannak jelen, jellemzően tehervonatok élén.
