I've had a TON of people ask me about Alaska and all I can respond with is it's just absolutely incredible in every direction. Like, this is one direction...and then there's a beautiful valley the other way and beautiful mountains on both sides...just...beauty everywhere...

Some scenes just have the ability to take us away to some perfect place in our minds where the usual things that bug us can't go. I find that to be my experience while I'm working on the pics I took up in Tennessee. Sometimes when I look at the original photo, I wonder why in the world I thought it was anything worth capturing! I know, though, that my brain has already processed that image into someplace special to me, so I go to work to bring the vision out of what I saw. Maybe it's better than reality, or maybe the camera just can't capture everything the eyes can see, I don't know, but I do know that the places I visited made me feel that they looked this way. They were more perfect in my mind's eye than what I actually saw, I guess. Anyway, I enjoy making it happen!
This was taken, once again, in the park by the river in Bristol, Tennessee.
I made this composition over 10 years ago, before I started getting into Travel Photography and storytelling. As I revisit my image archive every now and again, this photo always catches my eye. Taken one spring evening at dusk, I tried to capture how the colorful sky contrasted with the growing shadows. In the middle of all the darkness, the runway lights of Alicante airport seemed to invite me to take off, spread my wings, and discover the world!
Getting back into photography, after spending many years without touching a camera, was a true blessing, allowing me to evolve both as an artist and as a person into who I am today.

I didn't buy this dress for this 365, but I haven't used it for anything else...oh well.
I actually didn't know what I was gonna do with today/this photo, I just posed and hoped that one of my poses will lead me to an idea. And it did! After I got home, I didn't really have an idea since it looked really bland by itself. And I remembered something that Alex Currie mentioned during his 365. So today's photo has been inspired by some of Alex Currie's stuff. Yay.

It was like a day in paradise sandwiched between two days of hell.
But I'll take it.
Half a day on the tall ship Red Witch to catch a little airshow action and some wind in the sails...
I needed that and my soul just ate it all up.
It's a small world.
Last year when the tall ship HMS Bounty sank off of North Carolina in Hurricane Sandy I and millions of others were transfixed on the images on TV showing that beautiful ship going down in the Atlantic Ocean.
I was rooting for the crew to get off of there and make it home.
I'd noticed that one of the crew member's who'd gone through it lived in Blue Island just south of Chicago and I'd made a mental note to see if I couldn't get an interview with him and shoot him closeup.
I knew what he'd gone through and I wanted to let some time go by before I hit him up for the story.
And you know that the guy had quite a story to tell.
But my plan was fruitless and I never got to shoot him and hear him tell that tale.
Until yesterday.
I was talking to a guy on the crew of the Red Witch and he told me that his name was Drew and that he was from Blue Island.
Instantly my mind put it all together.
'You were on the Bounty when it went down weren't you' I asked him.
He said that he was.
I was standing in front of the guy I wanted that opportunity to shoot last year.
And I seized that opportunity.
I'll give you more on that later this week.
I had an incredible day on the Red Witch combining a lot of the things I love.
I hope your weekend was as incredible as mine... minus the day from hell on Saturday.
And I hope you're easing your way into your work week just fine.

I have had a horrible weekend; but things are looking up :) I have a lot to be thankfull for and I fully intend on showing my thankfulness. Joyfull, joyfull, joyfull. Just keep saying it ;D hahaha
It rained all day; so this is edited sky haha. I took a nature walk and got away for a while; I tend to do that every now and then.

Yep not only was the day an interesting one at the beach that is.,
but then trying to show you my experience with my first nude beach was a disaster. Maybe this is a lesson, actually I think the whole situation was a lesson,
Just as everyday is one, we just have to pay attention to what we are being taught! And LISTEN TO THE UNIVERSE AND PAY ATTENTION!
