Yes, I did it ! I cut the tag off of the chair cushion! "Under Penalty of Law, this tag not to be removed except by the consumer" is one of the most misunderstood phrases in urban legend. I remember my mom advising never to cut them off - that it was ILLEGAL to do so!
According to wikipedia, this misconception has been lampooned various times on television shows; nevertheless, I'll bet that most of us still have tags on our mattresses and upholstery...
