Machines of war fall into formation behind the high command of BNSF orange, spearheading eastbound military special U FTLPAD1 15M across the causeway at Cold Springs Landing near Lynxville, WI. The tall bluffs that line the Upper Mississippi River Valley loom large at the train's back as it moves down a rather scenic stretch of the railroad's Aurora Subdivision on a crystal clear spring morning. This 5800 foot cross-country convoy of military equipment is operating between the Army bases at Fort Lewis, WA, near Tacoma, and Fort Knox, KY, via the P&L at Paducah. With lines in, a couple of local fisherman try their luck in the calm waters below hoping for a bite, completely oblivious to both our presence and the passing train behind them.

Call me weird, but I was observing this cormorant's feet and it just looked like he was wearing some Navy Seals tactical gear or something.

The beautiful western golden hour light washes over Quinns, Montana as MRL's night gas cruises through the mountains, hammering down west through the stunning scenery. Admittedly, we weren't much ready for the train to take the 4th sub, instead expecting it to take the usual trip up over the 10th. Some innovative driving, and on the fly google maps research, along with some quick drone piloting, yielded some amazing shots on the lesser run line. We get some beautiful lighting here in Virginia, but nothing like golden hour out west.

One of Valkyrie Aero's Embraer A-27 Tucanos flown over the Sonoran desert. Shot during a 3G Aviation Media air-to-air photography workshop and in support of an article I am writing on Valkyrie for an upcoming issue of Combat Aircraft Magazine.
Valkyrie was established to support the training needs of the military's joint terminal attack controller community, who need to make a minimum number of controls annually in order to maintain their currency and ensure they are at the top of their game if and when they deploy.
The members of the military planning comittee recently revealed their latest technological development. The Tactical Javelin Universal Marine Passage Gate (JUMP) is a revolutionary unit that promises to turn the war in the allies' favor. Specially selected elite squads are currently testing these devices to ensure the safety and accuracy of their use.
