Last night I had the privilege of witnessing the mighty Tangerine Dream play a captivating live performance at DC’s historic Lincoln Theatre. A huge thanks goes out to @the.dab.80 for inviting me out to see the show with him, otherwise I would have missed out on something truly remarkable. While it’s easy to remain skeptical, now that the original pioneering trio who founded this project of musical innovation have all left this earthly plane, it’s safe to say the current lineup has kept the TD spirit of unique and adventurous electronic music alive and well. Along with the classic Berlin-school sounds that longtime fans have come to know and love, I could hear traces of Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and even two-step drum n’ bass, as early classics we’re played along with some excellent new material.
