A love letter to the various video rental stores I used to love being taken to when I was a kid. When the ordinary and mundane Australian suburbia would transmogrify into a realm of adventure, excitement and fun. The neon lights, the smell of the plastic VHS cases, the movie posters.
We would visit my uncle in the school holidays; he was a toy collector and horror movie aficionado, and he introduced us to all things Star Wars, Alien etc. School was a pretty lonely time for me so I used to look forward to the holidays when we would be able to hang out, watch new stuff and talk about fan theories. It's funny to look back at that and realise that I turned into my uncle.
Did you have a coping mechanism in your childhood? Was there a secret place maybe that you went to that was all yours and no-one else knew about it? Was there somewhere you could escape to and feel that you could be yourself? And has that become a treasured part of you? You don't have to answer of course. I suspect most of us have these special places and times in our hearts. I don't mean to come across as nosy or fishing for attention, I just like talking about deep stuff. I can't help it :-)
Retrowave refers to a specific type of synthwave where artists recreate the 80s when synthwave was most popular. It heavily utilizes Retro-Futurism by adopting the optimistic and neon-filled vision of the future prevalent at the time.

I am happy to have a Lego rendition of this icon of retro culture in my collection. Unlike most Lego Testarossas, TheGBrix has made the sides of the car transition from 8 studs to 9 studs wide, matching the real car with its incredibly wide rear silhouette. I made some modifications to the sides, bonnet, and removed the rear bumperettes, and I also added a Speed Champions F8 Tributo windscreen.

There is a band called the Midnight who until the end of this tour had a multi instrumentalist called Lelia Broussard playing with them. This is a recreation of the outfit she wore at Brixton, so there you go.i inspiration found everywhere

Felt like doing another one of these again, so here's a movie poster throwback to Time Cruisers - but with a unique 80s synthwave twist!
