Atholl Gathering & Highland Games 2014

The Sword Dance - Gille Calum or Gille Chaluim - Said to have originated in 1054 when King Malcolm Canmore clashed in battle near Dunsinane with one of Macbeth's chiefs. Having slain his opponent, Malcolm crossed his claymore with that of his opponent to make the sign of the cross and danced in exultation over them. After this time, it is said, clansmen would cross their swords prior to battle and if they could complete the war dance without touching the swords, it signified that they would be the victors.

I just watched episodes 1&2 of the new Thundercats Series.

Being a huge fan of the earlier series, I needed to try my hand at a minifig-scale Sword of Omens.

It could still use some work.

It is just a CAD model for now.

Maybe I'll cut a proto mold, and maybe I won't. If I did, the Eye of Thundera (the Red thingy in the middle) would most likely be an overmolded trans-red insert that you could kinda see through. Can you see it in your mind's eye? You dig.

The Sword Dance is one of the accomplishments learned by some geisha, according to “The Story of the Geisha Girl” by Taizo Fujimoto, first published in 1917.

The dominant color in the Evergreen State (Washington) is definitely green. The spores of Sword Ferns are backlit creating interesting patterns.

Todays painting is called (Decapitation by sword) It was funny because after this was done a couple of neighbors stopped by and when they saw this they didn't say nothing for about 30 seconds then I told them the title then after looking another half minute one of them said that is sick, disgusting while the other two just shook their heads in agreement, Steve one said you need to go and talk with a psychiatrist you have some deep rooted problems, perhaps you werent hugged enough as a baby, or you were dropped on your head? when I heard that I just smiled and nodded because I felt like I finally hit the apex of my painting in short I finally arrived at the summit, I'm thinking this might be the last painting I ever do, after all where can I go after getting such high priase? I mean what do I do now? how can I go back to painting flowers and landscapes ?I mean Im standing on the mountain top looking around smiling thinking everything is all good, may bee I will become a poet it would be cheaper and less messy, but I'm not any good with words and that could be somewhat of a problem, or may bee continue to paint what I want and when people come over I can put all of my so called twisted sick sh**t under my bed until the coast is clear, seems like the more a painter starts to find their true self they will soon come up against the wall of society and what (THEY) deem is art, owell what to do? what to do? I shall ponder these questions while I'm sitting in starbucks in about a half an hour , so if you happen to go to star bucks look in the corner ,see the guy with the a Caramel Frappuccino Light Blended Coffee no whipped cream and paint on his fingernails ? thats me ,come on over I will buy you a cappuccino or your drink of choice and we can talk about art and the concern we should have over the falling Japanese yen, cheers, Steve.

OK, I mean obviously there's some polishing to be done, but I thought it wasn't bad for a first try :P

I caught Queen Mabb's personal guards playing at the 2010 Phoenix Faerie Festival.

Kids don't try this at home :-)

Today is the first day that I am dreading work.

Today we are to be visited by the head of region and the ‘Grim Reaper’.

The hatchet man of the company is paying us a visit and apparently if he accompanies anyone anywhere then someone is going to be getting the bus home with a snotty nose and puffy eyes.

I feel like a kid at the park, having hysterical fun on the swings with my companions and then along comes a funny smelling man in a dirty mac who snatches one of them away to go and see some ‘puppies’.

I already loathe whoever it is who is coming. I’m not sure I will be able to hold back from barking and growling at him when he arrives.

It can’t be easy being that guy though. Everywhere he goes during working hours people avoid eye contact, rush to the photocopier, burst into tears or projectile vomit (oh no he isn’t the Exorcist). He probably gets scary calls late at night from high pitched little voices telling him he’s gonna get it for what he did to their daddy. He wakes to find all his windows smashed by Tonka toys. Women randomly crash their 4X4’s into his car (hearse) and then chuck their Frappacinos over his suit (black cloak).

His wife probably dreads him coming home each night in case he ‘axes’ her. His children probably scream when he comes into their bedroom to kiss them goodnight.

This is playing in my head constantly:

6/31 Inktober sketch on the theme 'sword'

I had an idea similar to this but wanted some references. Found this photo by one of my fav photographers on Flickr, Kavan. If you haven't seen him check his photos and youtube page. He's sick!!!!

These are the swords we built for BW this year. They were inspired both by Sean's epic sword and the wing piece. :) It was rather fun playing with the handle in order to fill up all the holes but it came at the expense of stability (and several other builds I wanted to build xP). In the end you can only hold this sword in one way or it'll break in half. xD

1. -no name-

2. Molotoch

3. Tombchaser Sword

4. Excalibur

5. Sonja's Revenge

6. -forgotten the name of the Dagger...will look if I find it somewhere-

btw, you can name the nameless sword...I don't know a good name and forgot to ask the blacksmith who made it...

...a sword without name has no soul...so give it a name...but watch out, if you name it, your soul will be trapped in the sword...your soul will be mine....;)
