The Swordbill, sans tail, is the only bird whose bill length exceeds its body's. Its distribution mirrors that of the Tasconia passion flowers. Zuro Loma.

These are a beautiful soft purple.

The waiting buds only just peeping out.

Summer was slowly leaving us in a flurry of colour.

Named for the shape of their leaves, like blades, gladioli – from the Latin word “gladius,” meaning sword – have a history that spans from Africa to the Mediterranean.

Symbolising strength and moral integrity, gladioli also represent infatuation, with a bouquet conveying to a recipient that they pierce the giver’s heart with passion. How romantic!

Ashes Divide "Sword"

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddVyIz8zUvI

Spreading your love from the tip of a sword

Echoing the reason that poisons you

Thinking you know what's good for us all

I wish I could reach out...

To silence you

But I'm a waste in your eyes.

You say you don't need me to save you tonight.

But I need to save you tonight.

I'm standing alone on the brink of a stone

Trying to humanise the enemy inside of you

We're cut from the same cloth but we are

Stained with the poison of pride

We're sucking the life from the whole of the world

Can't be confined or condemned to be

Reduced to a place that's a violent resolve

To the end they will try

And silence you.

'cause we're a waste in their eyes

The grace they describe

Won't save you tonight.

Spreading your love from the tip of a sword

Echoing your reason that poisons you

Of all your fear, love, anymore??

Let pride come before a fall

I wish you could see and leave for something more

Than the things I'm confined and condemned to be

They will know our needs and we won't be ignored

So that we may see some light

Don't let them silence you

'cause you're a waste in their eyes

There's a grace inside of you...

I need tonight...

Made by Domenico SUTRIO. Pope Julius II sent this sword to Vladislaus II in 1509, Hungarian National Museum.

Growing in the dappled light of a Hampshire (UK) wood.

We had a great time birding in Colombia with a great guide, Andrea Beltran.

It was his sword that held fast in the rocks where he lay. For many years Aluna tried to remove it but failed, with anguish and tears. The day it moved was the day she had resolved not to try anymore⚔️

There are women who have developed a passion for swords due to the influence of an online game. It seems that such people traveled from far away to visit a special exhibition on Japanese swords at the museum in this town. The emotional exhibition featured the reunion of the famous sword "Honaku Nagayoshi" and the renowned sword "Kunihiro," which was crafted based on it, for the first time in 435 years.

These are the swords we built for BW this year. They were inspired both by Sean's epic sword and the wing piece. :) It was rather fun playing with the handle in order to fill up all the holes but it came at the expense of stability (and several other builds I wanted to build xP). In the end you can only hold this sword in one way or it'll break in half. xD

Picture with "normal" lightings

The Haleakalā silversword, has numerous sword-like succulent leaves covered with silver hairs. Silversword plants in general grow on volcanic cinder, a dry, rocky substrate that is subject to freezing temperatures and high winds. The skin and hairs are strong enough to resist the wind and freezing temperature of this altitude and protect the plant from dehydration and the sun.

The plant's base of leaves, arranged in a spherical formation at ground level of the plant, dominates for the majority of the plant's life—which may be greater than 50 years. The leaves are arranged so that they and the hairs of the leaves can raise the temperature of the shoot-tip leaves up to 20 °C (36 °F), thereby having adapted to the extreme high-altitude temperatures by focusing the sunlight to converge at this point and warm the plant. (Wikipedia)

I carved and filed this sword out of a Brickarms Rust sprue, which is a swirl of Dark Orange and Gunmetal.

The axe head right above it is normally-molded Brickarms Rust. The sword bears starkly different swirl patterns because it was cut out of already-swirled material. Check out the symmetry on the pommel! The grip is from a lathed reddish brown sprue.

Type XIV swords were popular around 1270 - 1340 in Europe. This page was one of my starting reference sources: MyArmoury Type XIV

The blade and crossguard are a single piece, which had to be carved very carefully out of the "t" shape of the sprue. If I had been another millimeter off, an air bubble would have ruined the project. The pommel is a cross-section of the top of the "t." I'm happy with how this formed and polished up!

Looking up at Sverd i fjellet
