Project SWORD was a TV21 feature built around a very fantastic range of toys as opposed to a TV programme. This Annual featured striking images of the vehicles.
This is a Gladiolus nanus 'impressive' - well named, I think, as it certainly stunned me on first catching sight of it!
Gladiolus or as it's sometimes called, Sword lily, because gladius is Latin for sword. It's a tall and exotic looking flowering plant that makes a real impact in the garden, even at the back of the border. The showy funnel shaped flowers grow out of the tall stalk and can be many different colours. They certainly make an impressive cut flower!
As a part-owner of a Seddon Pennine 7 with a very different body, I was delighted to have the privilege of a run on the ex Sworders Seddon. As can be seen, it is very tidy and original and clearly the coach has been looked after exceptionally well. Nor was there a squeak or rattle from the body. The sound level was very low and the ride excellent. Thanks to Bibby's of Ingleton for bringing it.

Almost 4,000 troops from eleven Alliance nations have taken part in Exercise Iron Sword, a Lithuanian-led, multinational home defence and conventional battle group training exercise near Vilnius, Lithuania, which ended with a display and closing ceremony on 2nd December 2016.
I took this photo in an abandoned ghost town called swords. This is the general store. I didn't do too much to edit this photo, I used sharpen, curves and turned down the saturation. I tried to make it darker like NiKi did in his photos.
Quoted from Wareham Town Museum website www.greenacre.info/WTM/page3.html :
"Wareham's Saxon Sword
The Saxon sword was found deep in the bed of the River Frome during the construction of South Bridge in 1927. It was conserved at the British Museum and then deposited at the Dorset County Museum. It was loaned to Wareham Museum in 2012 and again in 2014 under the "Effective Collections" programme.
The sword was made of iron and the hilt and about half the blade survive. The guard was originally decorated with thin plates of copper and silver. The handle grip was covered in antler and there are remains of incomplete inscriptions on it. The inscription on the handle is in Anglo-Saxon capital letters and the language may be Old English. The first part of the inscription is part of the name of the owner of the sword. The name begins with Aethel, a name only used by members of the royal family or aristocracy of Wessex. The second part means ‘owns me.’
It is an Anglo-Saxon sword, and the style of decoration and the lettering indicate a tenth century date. Swords like this are very rare. They were the ultimate status symbol for rich and powerful men in Saxon times.
We know that Wareham was an important town in the Kingdom of Wessex in later Saxon times, and there was probably a royal palace here. Viking raiders from Denmark attacked this area in AD 998 and 1015, and it is possible that the sword was lost in a skirmish with these raiders. Or, the sword may have been thrown into the river as a ritual offering, or to prevent its use after its owner’s death."

Swords Castle was built as the manorial residence of the Archbishops of Dublin around 1200 or a little later in Swords, just north of Dublin.
It was never strong in the military sense, but covers a large pentagonal walled area of nearly 1.5 acres (6,000 m²) with a tower on the north, probably the Constable's residence, and an impressive gateway complex on the south. The warder may have occupied the quarters to the left of the gate, while to the right was the janitor's room with the priest's room overhead. The adjoining chapel, built in the late thirteenth century, was probably used as the Archbishop's private oratory.
Other buildings, recorded for an inquisition in 1326, have now vanished, including the great hall on the east side of the enclosure. The Archbishop abandoned Swords once a new palace was built at Tallaght in 1324 - a move no doubt encouraged by damage sustained during Bruce's campaign of 1317. The stepped battlements suggest some form of occupancy during the fifteenth century, but by 1583, when briefly occupied by Dutch Protestants, it was described as "the quite spoiled old castle". It was used as a garden in the nineteenth century and sold after the Church of Ireland was disestablished.
The newly renovated castle was used as a film location for the production of TV series The Tudors in spring 2010.

The whole sword is 76cm long. The tip can be removed so it can be placed in the stand. The Materia can also be slotted inside the sword just like in the game.
