Lochearnhead Highland Games 2018
The Sword Dance - Gille Calum or Gille Chaluim - Said to have originated in 1054 when King Malcolm Canmore clashed in battle near Dunsinane with one of Macbeth's chiefs. Having slain his opponent, Malcolm crossed his claymore with that of his opponent to make the sign of the cross and danced in exultation over them. After this time, it is said, clansmen would cross their swords prior to battle and if they could complete the war dance without touching the swords, it signified that they would be the victors.

This pair of sword pyramids "would have adorned a leather strap that would have been attached to a scabbard...they are called peace bands. They could be tied around the handle of the sword, securing it in place in the scabbard so warriors were not able to draw their swords suddenly in anger" - from staffordshirehoard.org.uk

The Onu/Meteu matoran miners and archivists all work and live underground and prefer to stay hidden and safe away from rahi above ground, similar to the matoran on Mata-Nui, however, things were different, these hard working matoran had things more organized, no maze of tunnels, unless it was just for fun and even plan Ussal races and fights in an arena, they also play Kolhii in their spare time, instead of domes they had castle like built constructions and pillars of stone and stalactites meeting stalagmites, even natural multiple pools. (Look up Ferngully or Yellowstone Mammoth Springs)
they even built a vault keeping every found treasure found, even a bin of earth, both would be later use for crafting and building material, every matoran would learn to respect each others finding. Umbra would discover his Toa Stone in a cave most lost interest to keep digging.
At 12pm, about 40 individuals attended a march and rally in downtown Portage, Indiana, a far east suburb in the Chicago metro area. Under the hot noonday sun and for over two hours, attendees braved the heat and humidity to listen to local leaders, citizens, a 15-year old high school student, a Vietnam War veteran, and activists speak about their experiences with what they perceived as racism in the community, the need for understanding and respect, and their commitment to growing the movement with their family, friends, and neighbors. Two individuals who were introduced as of the local Republican party took time to speak candidly and offer their support for "Black Lives Matter". Time was set aside for those attending to introduce themselves to each other and "break the ice". Refreshments and food were provided. Before the march began, attendees participated in a exercise called a "privilege walk" which was designed to bring attention to the ways in which they believed that one's background, ethnicity, and life opportunities have helped shape and either forward or retard their positive advancement in relation to their peers. After a short sidewalk march through the local area surrounding Founder's Square Park, the event ended, another of the many that have been held in the days and weeks after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The ancient sword Snartemosverdet is part of the findings from the farm Snartemo in Southern Norway.
The sword was found in autumn 1933 by Richard and Olav Kjellingland when they were about to break in new land. A large stone slab had a cavity underneath which contained a stately tomb from the early 500's with a graced sword that later became known as the Ancient Snartemo sword.
In addition to the sword, a complete weapon set, a silver-mounted glass beaker, bronze kettle and a gold ring, a bowl weight of bronze, three weights of lead, rare patterned fabrics and bear claws were found. The discovery provoked international attention at the time and is referred to as "The loveliest migration time grave find to this day that was dug up on Norwegian soil".
During World War II German occupation forces tried to obtain the sword, which at that time was hidden along with other national treasures in a vault under the ordinary bank vault of the Bank of Fagernes. They showed interest in the sword because they wanted to use the woven swastikas that was found next to the sword as propaganda. Of course the request was denied.
At Bautaparken in Snartemo you'll find a large model of the sword.

Three enormous bronze swords stand monument to the battle of Hafrsfjord in the year 872, when Harald Hårfagre (Fairheaded Harald) united Norway into one kingdom. The monument was designed by Fritz Røed (1928 - 2002) from Bryne, just south of Stavanger. It was unveiled by Norway's King Olav in 1983.
The swords, which are about 10 meters tall, stand for peace and unification. One sword is larger than the others. This was Fairheded Harald's sword. The swords are planted in solid rock - representing peace.
The swords can be found at Møllebukta which is a bay area on the southern shore of Hafrsfjord. The name "Møllebukta" derives from "mølla" (mill) and "bukt (bay). There used to be a corn mill here. Today the area is one of Stavangers most popular recreational areas.
Been working on this model for a while and finally got it as far as it can go. Still missing the Bionicle pieces for the wings though. They haven't been added to LDD yet and it's hopefully just a matter of time until they do so.

This is my eleventh year covering this fun festival filled with color and pageantry and beautiful people. Each year some of the regulars return and sometimes fresh new faces appear to join the renaissance family. Some are vendors or employees, and some customers dress up to fit in with the renaissance festival fun and its 16th century way of life. One big happy family of a few thousand escaping the dull-drums of their daily life for a few hours. This year's crop of new faces was lovely. Hope you enjoy the images. I try to capture their joy. Always fun, festive and very colorful. Thanks very much for looking. Hazaaa!!

For Our Daily Challenge topic -'Confucious quote'
* Conficious actually said dont give a sword to a man, but that was 2,500 years ago....
My Dad loved subtle jokes. I can still hear a bunch of his 'Confucisan' quotes: "Confucious says dont leave your wet bathing suit on the floor or the dog will take it." "Confucious says only people who eat all their salad can have desert." "Confucious says the Redskins can not win if we don't watch the game.

This sword is made from long-forgotten drawings, such swords have about 500 exemplairs. On the blade is engraved the inscription: "For the name of the God! By his name! " The inscription at first took for scratches, but they were spotted pattern, and the inscription was deciphered. Sword uses a powerful force field to attack, but off the field is just a jeweled stick. Store energy in batteries of swords is truly inexhaustible, they used by more than three generations of Templars. A sword decorated with gold thread and rubies. Also, the handle is usually hooked with purity seals.
There was no inspiration for the inner filling of the blade. Any suggestions?
The idea came long ago, but the execution is not yet at the highest level. I'll elaborate ...
