Here is my ninth build for my Iron Builder round against Letranger Absurde.
The special part is that brain-eating "pithfork".
One of the Secret Serivice SUVs parked in front of the driveway, plus one of the many motorcycle (with sidecar) escorts.
Obama visited the Washington Post, which is directly across the street from my office, Jan 15th. Created quite the excitement on 15th Street, NW.
I was bouncing and swaying inside one of these trucks while shooting this photo thru the windshield, it was rather difficult to keep the AF point on the truck in front of us lol. I have plenty of shots of the dashboard, steering wheel, A-pillar, my thighs, the roof, etc
It is called the red dune desert because of the red hue of the sand due to the iron element from the location.

Truck Thursday
We had to go out onto the Interstate today on our way to Syracuse. There were a lot of trucks on the road today.

The DKW Munga was a DKW-branded off-road vehicle built by Auto-Union in Ingolstadt, Germany. The name Munga comes from the German phrase Mehrzweck UNiversal Geländewagen mit Allradantrieb, which translates as "multi-purpose universal off-road car with all-wheel drive"
The ultra-rich are having trouble finding things to buy I guess: didn't know there was a market for this kind of vehicle (!)
Poole Road near Irene, IL goes from one lane each way to..."is my SUV gonna fit that?!?". This shot gives you the scope of things: the one and only "blue bomber" Illinois Central 2462, repainted blue with the CN noodle logo with the CN M338 job, passes eastbound under the old trestle. I nearly got eaten alive by mosquitoes here, but the shot was worth it.
3D view of Barsuk on Mecabricks: mecabricks.com/en/models/xov7qKG320D
"Barsuk" (from Russian "барсук" - "badger") is the civilian version of a SUV designed for the Soviet military in the late 60's, produced by ZiP ("ЗиП" / "Завод имени Петрова" - Petrov Plant).
Even though its design was deemed obsolete from the start of production, robust and offroad-ready Barsuk was everything a countryside denizen could dream of - especially if you don't tell 'em what was available on the other side of a curtain!
Built by the request of my friend @kiren_sun: flickr.com/photos/sovetskiy_medved/.
It was meant to be a UAZ-469 lookalike with some artistic liberties, but Kiren took it even further with adaptation of that model. I believe you'll be able to see the result some time later =)

The city's getting crowded, it's getting hard to drive
in all of this pollution it's an effort to survive
I'm heading for the mountains, I'm pushing on the pedal
with fifty bucks of ethyl and a couple tons of metal
I'm an SUV VIP
outta my way or RIP
I'm an SUV VIP
marching like a mammoth through the land of the free
I got a massive engine sitting underneath the hood
I jacked up my suspension so the view is really good
my tires are humongous and they take a massive load
but it's so damn expensive I don't dare to leave the road
What's that bump, I nearly hit my head
something must be stuck between the tire treads
it could be a dog and it could be a deer
or the rest of that dude in the read view mirror
That's what he gets for getting in the way of an SUV VIP,
doesn't he know I've got places to go, things to do, and people to see?
They say the planet's warming so I got a good AC
they say it might be harming but it doesn't bother me
I'm sealed inside my capsule and I'm having me a blast
I haven't got a worry 'till my ride runs out of gas

Over the past decade more and more folks have been upgrading from sedans and hatchbacks to crossovers, that are often wrongly called SUVs by most. So like most other manufacturers, Tata Motors, the highest selling Indian brand has also shifted most of their production to crossovers. These are some of the SUVs from Tata Motors, the popular car manufacturer that produces the best looking and safest cars to be found on Indian roads. The cars beat even German brands like VW when it comes to build quality, ride and safety. I clicked this shot at the local Tata Motors dealers. The cars seen here from left to right are the full sized 5 seater Harrier, Harrier (Dark Edition) and the sub-compact Nexon. All cars that are rated 5 Star in the Bharat NCAP, the official New Car Assessment Program for India. Incidentally, for those who might not know, Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC is a subsidiary of Tata Motors, after they aquired it from Ford in 2008, who had mismanaged it badly; with Tata virtually bringing JLR back from the dead. The automotive industry in India is booming today with new car sales in India in 2023 rising 7% over 2022 to 5,079,985 units. The country held on to third place in global market size, ahead of Japan but still behind China and the U.S., for the second consecutive year.
