Le ZooParc de Beauval, plus couramment appelé le zoo de Beauval ou, plus simplement, Beauval, est un parc zoologique français situé à Saint-Aignan dans le département de Loir-et-Cher, en région Centre-Val de Loire. Il présente environ 35 000 animauxNote 1 sur 44 hectares. Créé en 1980 par Françoise Delord, il est actuellement dirigé par son fils, Rodolphe Delord, et géré par sa famille, qui possède la majeure partie du capital.
Beauval fut souvent le premier parc zoologique à présenter certains animaux en France, ce qui a contribué à sa notoriété et à son développement. Il a notamment été le premier à présenter des fauves leuciques, tigres blancs et lions blancs, dans les années 1990. Aujourd'hui encore, plusieurs des espèces présentées sont rares en France, telles l'okapi, le lamantin et le rhinocéros indien, voire uniques en France, comme le panda géant, le koala, le dendrolague de Goodfellow et le diable de Tasmanie. En 2017, le ZooParc de Beauval devient le premier parc français, et le quatrième européen, à réussir la reproduction du panda géant.
Quatre serres présentent oiseaux, grands singes, paresseux, reptiles, lamantins et animaux australasiens, tandis que trois plaines permettent de présenter des herbivores de la savane africaine (girafes, rhinocéros blancs, gnous, antilopes), des éléphants d'Afrique et des herbivores asiatiques (rhinocéros indiens, tapirs de Malaisie, antilopes, etc.). Les autres installations notables du parc sont la zone chinoise intitulée Sur les hauteurs de Chine, une zone africaine avec La Réserve des Hippopotames et La Terre des lions, ainsi que les deux espaces consacrés aux spectacles : le bassin des otaries présentant L'Odyssée des lions de mer et le théâtre en plein air du spectacle d'oiseaux en vol libre intitulé Les Maîtres des airs. Ces petites bêtes hyperactives sont vraiment amusantes à regarder. Celle-ci perchée sur son rocher surveille attentivement les alentours en poussant des petits gloussements sensés sans doute rassurer sa famille.

We had our Ringing Social at Camperdown Wildlife Centre in Dundee this morning. Apart from the bird ringing there is always time to catch up with some of the inhabitants, especially the Meerkats. Sweet little things but those teeth mean business.
Comme la plupart des gens, je préférerais voir tous ces animaux dans leurs milieux naturel plutôt que dans un zoo... mais bon... ce n'est pas pour tout de suite...

Le suricate (Suricata suricatta), parfois surnommé « sentinelle du désert », est une espèce de mammifères diurnes de la famille des Herpestidae (mangoustes) et la seule du genre Suricata. Ce petit carnivore vit dans le sud-ouest de l'Afrique (désert du Namib). Animal très prolifique, le suricate vit en grands groupes familiaux au sein d'une colonie. The meerkat (Suricata suricatta) or suricate is a small carnivoran in the mongoose family. It is the only member of the genus Suricata. Meerkats live in all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, in much of the Namib Desert in Namibia and southwestern Angola, and in South Africa. A group of meerkats is called a mob, gang or clan. A meerkat clan often contains about 20 meerkats, but some super-families have 50 or more members. In captivity, meerkats have an average life span of 12–14 years, and about 6–7 years in the wild. Meerkats are primarily insectivores, but also eat other animals (lizards, snakes, scorpions, spiders, eggs, small mammals, millipedes, centipedes and, more rarely, small birds), plants and fungi. Meerkats are immune to certain types of venom, including the very strong venom of the scorpions of the Kalahari Desert. A meerkat has the ability to dig through a quantity of sand equal to its own weight in just seconds. Le suricate est un petit mammifère diurne vivant dans les milieux désertiques et arides du sud-ouest de l'Afrique. Il fait partie de la famille des Herpestidae. Souvent surnommé « la sentinelle du désert », il doit ce surnom à la posture qu'il prend lorsqu'il se redresse sur ses 2 pattes arrière. Dans cette position, il observe les alentours et guette le moindre danger. Un individu est plus particulièrement affilié à cette tâche : le guetteur ! Posté en hauteur, il scrute le ciel à la recherche de rapaces et autres prédateurs et prévient ses congénères en poussant des cris ou des aboiements, s'il repère une menace.
