The morning at Mita Beach started off calm—but the ocean had other plans. As the sun bathed the sky in a deep blue, Valerie and Tamara were already standing on their boards, watching the massive waves building up out there.
“We’re taking that one!” Valerie shouted, pointing to a turquoise wall of water that was rising higher and higher. Tamara just grinned, shifted her weight forward, and started paddling.
Seconds later, they were both racing side by side across the water. Behind them, the wave crashed with a thunderous roar, while spray swirled through the air like sparkling diamonds. For a brief moment, time seemed to stand still. No appointments, no worries—just the sound of the ocean, the feeling of freedom, and two girls mastering every challenge together.
And as they paddled back to the beach later, laughing, they already knew: the next big wave was waiting for them somewhere out there.

Friday afternoon sessions, 2011/01/14. waves were small but was fun to watch the groms competing each other. At one point the all the loggers from the vans duct tape invitational joined them in the water; that was a total surfing contrast!

Brown as-in filthy brown (color is not too far from reality, even with the cross-processing of the slide). Surfing at this spot after heavy rain, is a trade-off: you get good after storm waves but filthy water. your call!
