Shot at the end of the day, with a strong inland wind creating a nice water spray effect when hitting the crest of the waves.

“Ocean waves, cleaved by the sailor’s vessel, do in turn cut and shape the sailor. The rough whitecaps, turbid with air, scour like a course grit, while the glass of still water, soothes with a fine grain.

The ocean shapes the soul, the roughest seas at times scoring and harming the product, and the smooth at times making too little difference. A man like a sculpture must endure the whitecaps of life to make any way toward his goal.

But later in life the soft strop of gentle water imparts the reflecting shine of wisdom, on the finished sculpture of life’s voyager.” ~N. Parkison

It is Summer holidays and a 2 m surf brought the surfers out in droves. To me it is water ballet. It is also about gravity.

Sorry, more photos of icebergs in the surf at Jökulsárlón beach. Will never get enough of that place and those icebergs.

Surfing is so omnipresent in Portugal :-)

Almost all kiwis reacted with sadness and lots of love and support for the victims of the extreme act of cowardice shooting people in their place of worship. But we won't be terrorised. It is still one of the safest places on earth and thank you all for so many words of support yesterday. Taken while sitting in a coffee shop by a warm salt water pool in our city, with a long large flat white.

Hope you're not sick of the surfing images.......

Another from this years Surfest held at Merewether Beach, NSW; Australia last week.

Here the surfer shows some skill grabbing his board before re-entering the water and finishing off his ride.

Thanks for any comments, views or favorites.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and week!!

I've still got plenty more images I haven't uploaded to flickr from Surfest a couple of months ago; so here's a couple more.

Hope you like the surfing action!

This one's significantly reduced in file size as the original is over 16MB.

I greatly appreciate any comments, views or favorites -thanks!!

Wish you all a fantastic day and week!!

A classic: the surfer parks his classic camper on the beach, for a little surfing session.

Sand, surf & shadows.

It is a little past 7.00am and the first rays of sunlight are spreading like tentacles across what had only a short time previously been darkness.

Town Beach is deserted except for the traditional early morning walkers and even they seem to be reluctant to venture out this morning.

The seats and the beach remain empty of life and create a desolate and lonely sight.

In the meantime the sand remains as the departing tides left it, the surf is calm and the sun is slowly filtering through casting long shadows.
