Reading Buses had a presence at this year's Reading Pride, which took place over the first weekend in September to celebrate Reading's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans community. Generic-liveried ADL Enviro400 MMC no. 759 carries posters for SupportU, a local LGBT support organisation; the poster also commemorates the Wolfenden Report which paved the way for the partial decriminalisation of male homosexuality in the UK fifty years ago.

The Bluebell is clearing the thousands of tons of rubbish that was tipped into the Imberhorne Cutting when the line was closed back in the 1960s and 1970s and this must now be cleared to enable the line to reach East Grinstead once again. In 2015, Reading Transport teamed up with Reading-based LGBT support group SupportU to promote LGBT issues and the Reading Gay Pride parade with Enviro400MMC 759 carrying special adverts. www.flickr.com/photos/jamesc182/20335925794/in/dateposted...
The partnership has continued into 2016 and Scania Omnidekka 803 took part in the London Pride event on Saturday 25th June, for which it again received special adverts, rainbow-coloured window stickers and some rainbow-based graphics. 803 returned to service by 27th June with the window stickers removed but all the other branding still in place. The adverts promote SupportU and the Reading Pride event in September 2016.

Meeting regularly, David and I, in early 2013 began working upon the first instalment of an ongoing series of stories about his life with blindness. The challenging new day to day routines, learning routes into town with his stick or following behind his mother, Eugene.
Together, we focussed upon how he was coping with the isolation, depression, the navigation of the local streets where bodiless voices surrounded him, a new world of unseen whispers, as though falling and falling through a snowstorm of disembodied ghosts, the many new terrors and harsh realities of David’s learning to live blinded.
“A few days later I managed to speak with mother on the phone and she sounded a little better, more interested in things, asking after me and how I was managing on my own and we talked for a few minutes. That was the last time that we really had a conversation that was a proper conversation. When we said goodnight on the phone she said “Goodbye, my darling.” and I said “Goodbye, mum.” and I said “I love you.” and she said “Yes, I know you do.”

Poniedziałek:
Kupiłem ramę, a z nią linki hamulców i przerzutek oraz sztycę siodełka - czyli to, co na pewno będę musiał wymienic na nowe - jest super! ;->
Wtorek:
Rozkręcam stery w starym rowerze, przeliczam dziesiątki razy czy będę musiał przycinac rurę amortyzatora czy nie, wychodzi ze będzie za długa - no nic, na początek nabiję miski sterowe na nową ramę - i tu ZONK! stare miski sterowe mają srednicę 34mm a do nowej ramy pasują takie o srednicy 44mm ;P
Środa:
W poszukiwaniu misek sterowych. Uparłem się na miski Ritchey - nigdzie nie mogę znaleźc; tzn pewno są tam gdzie kupowałem ramę, ale nie chce mi się jechac przez całą wawę po 100g żelastwa ;-> - wracam z niczym ;p
Czwartek:
Decyzja zapadła - kupuję stery StrongLight, które mi wczoraj proponowano w jednym ze sklepów. Wprasowuję miski w pocie czoła (pot bardziej z nerwów żeby nic nie spie....... ;-> ) - udało się (chyba - zobaczymy przy regulacji, jak wszystko będzie poskładane). Montuję stery, amortyzator, mostek, kierownicę, przednie koło, tylne koło. Rama zaczyna już wyglądac jak rower - w końcu już stoi o własnych kołach ;->
Piątek:
Dalszy ciąg montażu. Montuję miski supportu, korbę, przerzutki przód i tył, hamulce tylne... no dobra, dodam SPD-y, sztycę i siodełko to już będzie wyglądac jak prawierower ;->. Na koniec znów konsternacja - ramiona v-brake-ów nie osadzają się na powierzchni wypustów w ramie, tylko wiszą na piwotach jakiś 1mm od ramy - w dodatku wygląda na to, że blokuje je bolec od sprężyny, który ma się wpasowac w jedną z trzech dziurek w ramie ;p
Sobota:
Bolec rzeczywiście się odgiął, ale to nie on blokuje - zakładam hamulec na starą ramę - to samo - po prostu otwór w ramieniu hamulca od strony ramy ma większą średnicę na krótszej długości niż piwot w ramie; dziura na bolec istotnie może krzywo nawiercona, ale w granicach normy ;->. Linkujemy......kolejny ZONK! w komplecie linek przerzutkowych jest ze 2m pancerza a mi potrzeba na oko ze 4 ;p. Szybkie szukanie sklepów rowerowych, które jeszcze są otwarte - ufff... kolejna wycieczka do sklepu rowerowego, zakup pancerza, przy okazji zakup linek bo ponoc są 4-ki i 5-ki, a ja nie wiem jakie mam ;p i dokupienie kilku dziwnych końcówek do linek.
WRESZCIE:
olinkowanie przerzutek i hamulców, dokręcenie konusów w przednim kole, które w tzw międzyczasie wirów historii się jakoś rozkolebało na piaście ;->, założenie łańcucha, wstępne regulacje przerzutek, hamulców i.... sterów... wygląda że nie daje się zlikwidowac luzów ;P. Godzę się z tym że mają lekki luz - wyruszam na oblot techniczny (jakis 1km ;-> - JEDZIE SIĘ SUPER! Mimo to na każdej dziurze przeliczam w pamięci śrubki i nakrętki które należało podokręcac ;->>> ). Po oblocie sprawdzam luzy - nadal tam są. Może amortyzator? Może jeszcze coś? Owszem jeszcze coś - zdezelowane ramiona hamulców się ruszają - stąd "luzy" ;p. Robię zdjęcie - GOTOWE! ;->

(To już jutro! ;-> ) Założenie wszelakiego dodatkowego szpeja, takiego jak: lampki, trompki, lemompki i pompki ;->

On 31st October this year I will be part of a mass choir that is singing in the Royal Albert Hall (700 women and 900 men) alongside 2 brass bands in aid of Cancer Research UK (More details here: supportus.cancerresearchuk.org/Events/Art__culture/Festiv... ). Tonight we had a rehearsal with about 1/4 of the ladies. It was great to hear the songs with so many more voices. I also saw someone whose daughter I went to dancing with back in my younger days and the ladies in front of me knew my friend/ex boyfriend! It's a small world!
It's been a very long day and as I type this (11.05pm) I've only been home about 30 minutes having left home at 7.30 this morning and only popping home for 30 minutes between school and going to the rehearsal.

ah, a drunken eye view of one of the whisky tasting bars at A Dram Come True fundraiser for the Vancouver International Writer's Festival. There were some mighty fine whiskys on offer, though I greedily hovered around the 25 year old Port Ellen, the 27 year old Caol Ila, and my new favourite the outrageously peaty and high-test 5 year old Bruichladdich Octomore. Aside from the freaky face-lifted wives and the rich dudes who mis-pronounced Islay - eye-la - as is-lay, we all had a good time.
