Shown here is a Tudor style Supertest of Canada service station at 356 Ontario Street in Stratford Ontario Canada at the corner of Ontario Street and Trow Avenue. Built in the early 1930's utilizing company standard architect it offered a full service facility for the motoring public. This building and the house to the left were raised in 1959 to make room for a new larger more modern Supertest Station. It continued to operate till the mid 1980's when the building was sold and converted for retail use.
The twin visible pumps were called the Canadian Double Pumps and were manufactured by Service Station Equipment in Toronto Canada. They have a series of light bulbs surrounding the top cover which is unique to their appearance.
The vehicle parked at the pumps awaiting fuel is a 1931 Plymouth PA 3 window coupe.

Parecia buena gente, me acerque a ellos y les hable en un mal ingles, respondieron en un peor castellano, lo cierto es que la conversacion fue fluida, me contaron que eran holandeses y su siguiente destino portugal...
Built circa 1960s .... Remember when filling / gas stations were built to resemble houses. Most have since been demolished or altered so much, but this gas station, originally a Supertest gas station, has retained its original 1960s style ....
Meandering around Hamilton in one of my periodic adventures through town, I came across a set of vintage gasoline pumps belonging to a collector of such automotive history. He kindly showed me around and gave me some interesting background on these and other items in his collection. I could not resist the colours. - JW

Tech Details:
Taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D800 fitted with an AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm VR 1:4.0 lense set to 55mm, ISO100, Daylight WB, Matrix metering, Aperture Priority Mode, f/9.0, 1/30 sec. PP in free Open Source GIMP from Nikon SOOC JPEG source file (because I like the camera results as-is): set final image size to be 9000 px wide, crop a little off the right side and bottom (maintaining the original aspect ratio) to get rid of a small intrusive detail as well as to get rid of a bit of excess blue wall along the right), use a non-destructive dodge/burn layer to darken window detail near the left side of the frame and make it a little less intrusive and then darken the clock face top left, increase overall contrast and brightness just a little, sharpen, save, scale to 6000 px wide, sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 3000 px wide for posting online, sharpen, save.
Looking west/northwest at the yard, we find some ballast loads, a bulkhead with 2x4 and-or 2x6's, stored frame flat cars ( for Budd Automotive at Kitchener), the displayed Mogul #81 up near the Supertest gas station, and a motor car beyond the crossing, heading out for patrol.

If it could be put onto wheels, it could put onto a Model T. If something beefier was needed, then it could be put on the Model TT, the heavy-duty version of the Model T. While the drivetrain in both was identical, the Model TT had a heavier frame and rear axle the sum of which gave it a rating of 1 short ton. While by no means quick, it was a reliable work horse on which all manner of hefty commercial applications was applied.
This TT is outfitted as Tanker Truck and liveried in bright orange and black with green trim for the no-longer-extant Ontario, Canada based Supertest Petroleum company. Operating from 1923 until 1973, Supertest Petroleum marketed itself as "Canada's All-Canadian Company" before being acquired by British Petroleum Canada in 1971. Hung with 1925 Ontario plates, the tanker unit on this truck has three compartments, 1100 litres up front, 750 litres in the middle, and 400 in the rear. Complete with extra coachlights, and a full complement of petroliana gas cans, it is rare to find any surviving commercial vehicles from this era, let along one in condition as nice as this.
As a child, Daley Thompson was my hero, my icon and my first crush.
Daley was the greatest British athlete of the 1980's and one of the greatest of all-time. He stormed his way through the Decathlon, arguably the hardest event in athletics. His 100 metre sprint time alone could have got him in the top 10 final of the 100m at the time. He was an outstanding athlete, very driven and focused and an amazing all-round athlete, his only weakness in the Decathlon was the 1500 metres as he simply wasn't built for it.
He won two Olympic golds, one World Championship gold, two European Championship golds (and one silver and one bronze), three Commonwealth Golds (and one silver), as well as competing and gaining medals from relay races he took part in. He won multiple other competitions and was a sporting TV competitor.
There were two computer games named after him in the 80's as well, called "Daley Thompson's Decathlon" and "Daley Thompson's Supertest" which I had for my Spectrum 128k (hence the Spectrum game loading screen in the bottom right of the picture and the cassette tape).

This 1934 Dodge Sedan was photographed at the westerly limits of Stratford Ontario Canada in 1936. The car is parked at a B-A gasoline station, however it has a Supertest winter radiator cover across the front. Visible in the distant background is a Shell sign which shows even then the brisk competition for your fuel dollars. The well frozen white snow would indicate it is likely a cold January or February winter day.

If you traveled to Canada from the US in the 1960s and 1970s, you'd notice a lot of things were similar, yet a bit different. For instance, Phillips 66 stations were called Pacific 66 there.
Phillips Petroleum sold its Canadian subsidiary, Pacific Petroleums, Ltd., to PetroCanada around 1980, and Pacific 66 memorabilia is rather difficult to come by. This ad is from a Pacific 66 Canadian highway guide.
This is the famous speedboat Miss Supertest lll, three time winner of the Harmsworth Trophy ( British International Trophy) in 1959, 1960 and 1961. Her owner was Gordon Thompson and the driver was Bob Hayward. This is the 50th anniversary of Miss Supertest. Canada Post unveiled a commemorative stamp today and Long Reach where the races were held was officially re-named Hayward Long Reach. Bob Hayward was fatally injured in another race four weeks after the 1961 Harmsworth race driving Miss Supertest ll in the Detroit Silver Cup. Miss Supertest was on display in an airplane hanger in the former Camp Picton this past weekend. She has a powerful Rolls Royce engine.
