Union Pacific rotary snowplow No. 900082 is eastbound approaching a snowbound Sharon Springs, Kansas, on New Year’s day nine years ago. Trains have been stranded there for several days, and this plow operated east from Denver to open up the Kansas Pacific line to Salina. High winds and 32 inches of snow buried the town during the December 29-30 storm. Providing motive power for the rotary train is a pair of GEs, with three support cars trailing the power, along with a backwards-facing EMD SD70M, to be used to pull the outfit westward out of a stuck position, if needed.

I have long wondered why Batman had a Robin. Now I have my answer here in Kinnelon, New Jersey, USA

Despite the parachute structure of the individual Dandelion seeds being largely made up of empty space, it is believed their design creates a ring-shaped air bubble ("separated vortex ring") which slows their descent to the ground and allows them to spread further afield (and into my garden as an unfortunate consequence). It is thought their design is up to four times more efficient that a conventional parachute.

*Painted with my great friends DRUID and SPOCE in some funky rain drops, was a really fun day!

*thanx DRUID for everything!

Yesterday's moon rise at Lake Tahoe. The moon was well above the horizon when it cleared the clouds. The backlit clouds remind me of leopard spots.

Hope you are enjoying a lovely Sunday. Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments. My apologies for being tardy with comments -- have had network and Flickr problems.

These little beauties jumped out of the archive today and needed to be shared! Mana says it's time for bed now. Night night :)

The sign warned of being prosecuted or shot. So I took my photo and backed quickly away. It is possible this intriguing building is part of the Techatitticup Mine tour. Some day we will go back and find out.

Happy Window Wednesday!

4 rediculous cars, 1 street.

Well, the suns out, an SD40-2 leading, a pumpkin trailing, what more could one ask for!

CP 6018 with BNSF 8465 fly by the Orrs Lake signals as they head eastward down the Galt sub on their way to Toronto.

A fabulous sight to see the other night. After a cloudy start the super bright moon shone through. This is on extreme zoooooom.

These starlings are so gorgeous and colourful compared to our boring black native starling.

Thank you my friends for popping by.

I really appreciate your visits, comments & favourites

Take care my friend and stay safe with the C virus floating around.

Wishing all my Flickr friends a beautiful day
