Happy Fourth Of July to all who celebrate it !!! Since today is the Fourth Of July, I decided to put up this image of a rock agama sporting some of the patriotic colors.
The Mwanza flat-headed rock agama (Agama mwanzae) or the Spider-Man agama, because of its coloration, is a lizard reptile in the family Agamidae, found in Tanzania, Rwanda, and Kenya.
It lives in semideserts and can often be seen in the heat of the day basking on rocks or kopjes. The male's head, neck, and shoulders are bright red or violet, while the body is dark blue. The female is mostly brown and is difficult to distinguish from female agamas of other species. This lizard is often confused with the red-headed rock agama (Agama agama) Males preferably have around five breeding partners and are highly territorial. Once a male has won over a female, the lizard will perform exotic head bobs and head swinging to court her.

A bono fide street photographer
took a picture of me
he couldn't wait to show the results
his smile was full of glee
I said it only fair then
to take his picture too
but I am just a point and shoot
one click and that will do
he was happy to oblige
his face was wreathed in smiles
he posed among the superheroes
he added to my golden miles
travelling is such fun and bliss
to meet all kinds of folks
life is a bowl of delicious cocktails
all stirred and mixed and sharing jokes
I never even asked his name
and he didn't ask for mine
we were both happy to be in this moment
sharing our love of photographic lines
we felt a kindred spirit and bathed
in a glowing instant friendship made
and just as suddenly as we had bonded
we parted ways and neither stayed
no backward glances
no fond farewells
but through our photographs
the memory dwells.

The shadowy colour is from the fence of the aviary (I think). It was very fine mesh and I could't even stick my pinky to scratch its cheeks (yes, very demanding 😊). I don't really know how the lens can get through the fence.

A flock of Muscovy Ducks have moved into our neighborhood -- wild fowl (not really ducks). . . they don't quack and if you find a Barbary Duck on your fine dining menu -- that is a Muscovy. We got close enough to this fellow before he rose up and flapped a warning. . . his natural, superhero mask does add a charming touch.

Sometimes if you can just reach one, teach one, or change one. Guess what you have done your job and its nothing more you can do. No one can save them all. They say the hardest thing about the hero is the ones they can't save and they live with that. Don't give up helping just caring makes a difference.

Superhero Day helped raise money for the Columbia Public Schools and was an attempt to break the Guinness world record for the most people dressed like a superhero. Although the record was not broken, it did attract 762 superheroes.
