I'm not going to apologise for this R8 coming up on my Flickr again, it's just too photogenic a car to leave it.
It must be one of the most iconic cars so far in the 21st century.

I wanted to post this special close-up picture of the Skittles No. 18, driven by superdriver and multi-time champion Kyle Busch. Kyle Busch is the younger brother of Kurt Busch, who we met earlier. And while Kurt Busch has been a good driver, Kyle Busch runs at another level. He's racked up 60 Cup wins in his 18 years running Cup races, and he's grumpy as hell, so people absolutely hate him. He also runs a bunch of races in other series at the same time, and his total number of stock car wins in all NASCAR sanctioned races at any level is higher than any other driver in NASCAR history. He has a young son named Brexton who is very likely to be featured in one of these pictures if I'm still doing Flickr in another 15 years. Brexton Busch will wind up featured in a series with Keelan Harvick and Cash Boyer. (NASCAR people refuse to give their children decent names.)
I post this picture mostly because this is the last time I'd see the Skittles car. The car has long been sponsored by Mars Candy Bars, and it goes back and forth from a Skittles theme to an M&Ms theme. They've been doing this since well before Kyle took over the ride -- this was Elliot Sadler's M&M car back in the day. But in a really shocking sponsorship move, Mars has decided to leave stock car racing, removing what is probably the most recognizable car from the pack. Personally, I think this is a really bad sign of things to come for NASCAR, which is losing sponsors and viewers like mad. (They don't help things out by randomly changing the race winners after disqualifying somebody for tape. But that's another race.)
Incidentally, there's been a lot of talk this season about Kyle's future, too, and he has yet to sign a contract for next year with Joe Gibbs, the guy who owns this car. There's a lot of chatter that Kyle's greater demons might have caught up to him so that he doesn't want to sign, or that Joe Gibbs might not want him to because Gibbs has his own little bit of nepotism moving up the line. There's no way of knowing how any of that will work out. I don't really follow the background drama closely ... you just hear stuff.
I wish Kyle had been running the M&Ms scheme today, because I like that one better. I'll miss seeing that car out there, whether Kyle's driving it or not.
