Perched on a vast hilltop in Chittorgarh, the majestic Chittorgarh Fort stands as one of India’s most powerful symbols of valor and sacrifice. Spread across nearly 700 acres, it served as the historic capital of the Sisodia Rajputs of Mewar and has witnessed some of the fiercest battles in Indian history. Believed to have origins in the 7th century, the fort evolved over time into a formidable stronghold, protected by massive stone walls, seven grand gateways, and an intricate system of water reservoirs that sustained life during long sieges.
Inside the fort lies a rich tapestry of history, architecture, and legend. The towering Vijay Stambh rises as a tribute to victory and pride, while the elegant Padmini Palace echoes stories of honor and intrigue. The fort is also closely associated with Rani Padmini and the heroic tales of jauhar, as well as the spiritual legacy of Meera Bai. Walking through its expansive grounds, one feels a deep connection to its past, where every stone carries echoes of courage, devotion, and an unyielding spirit that continues to define its identity.

The area is named for the sheer cliffs which border the ocean. There are surfing spots below the cliffs. The cliffside trails are popular for walking and for watching the sunset, but are undeveloped and can be dangerous. Falls from the cliffs have resulted in deaths and injuries
Sun going down over the lake. This is one of many that I took that day trying to capture the way the sun reflected across the lake but I had to hold it over a fence. I finally found a way around the fence but it was too late!
A beautiful sunset on the Anse Severe beach behind the Bikini Bottom beach bar in La Digue, Seychelles. Too bad that cloud came by to partially obscure the setting sun to spoil the fun. You can enjoy the sunset views by either sitting on the beach itself, or while sitting at one of the camping tables behind the bar while sipping a cocktail. The Bikini Bottom beach bar in La Digue, Seychelles is very popular amongst travelers and is fairly well subscribed and busy most of the time. Of course, as with everywhere else in Seychelles, almost all the clientele here are white Caucasians- I could not spot a single Indian or Asian tourist in La Digue- me probably being the only exception! Apart from being a popular bar, from where you can have light snacks, coffee, fresh fruit drinks and cocktails. And as I said earlier, and as you see here, Bikini Bottom is also a well known sunset viewing spot in La Digue. By day, one can rent snorkeling gear from here or gaze at the free ranging Aldabra Tortoises which are often seen near the bar. Bikini Bottom is located on Anse Severe beach on the northern side of La Digue Island, Seychelles. It is locally owned and is well known for its vibrant, laid-back atmosphere.
