Cars are not usually my thing. I saw this 55 Bel Air in the parking lot of the Stone Mill Inn at sunset. The colours were amazing. St Catherines Ontario, Canada.
Looking over the North Lincolnshire countryside just south of the River Humber in the UK. The sun was about half an hour from setting, the air was still and a yellow hue descended over the land.....

This Colorado mountain photo depicts warm light on Wetterhorn Peak at sunset with a stream flowing in the foreground right before a storm ensued.
shot this sunset scene by Lake McCullom earlier this afternoon....it was really beautiful with the lake somewhat calm and some sparse cloud formation just above the horizon....hope everyone had a great weekend....pls. View On Black

Sometimes I do not look for the Sunset, I look to the Northwest and Southwest of the setting sun. You never know what your going to see. This is looking over Bluff Point State part, here in Southeastern, Connecticut. If I remember correctly it was taken in the late December.
(going through old photos I never posted)
from our trip to Northern Wisconsin. Yes it was Hot but it was fun and great to see old, old friends. This is a shot of the Sun setting on Plum Lake. I grew up on this Lake. Learned to Swim, Fish and trap on this lake.

this was a very windy and cold sunset...i remember there was only 3 of us that stuck around to shoot this sunset and we all were up the viewing deck of the Adler Planetarium taking shelter from that brutal frigid wind coming from the lake....i had to stick it out as the colors were starting to just show some promise and the three of us were not disappointed with the beautiful light before us...have a good night friends....pls. this was a beautiful sunset scene captured last fall season along the banks of the Des Plaines River that runs thru the Gurnee Woods Preserve....can't wait to go back there and explore this forest preserve some more...pls. View On Black
this is a 15 second long exposure shot of the city skyline right around the start of sunset...i achieved this look by stacking 2 filters, a 10 stop ND filter for a longer exposure setting, and a circular polarizer filter to help control the sky exposure and get an even exposure between the sky and the foreground...really liked the result of it most especially the soft silhouettes of the skyscrapers....did another frame with a lighter exposure but this one seemed to be my favorite one because of the moodiness it conveys and the somewhat feeling of quiet and desolation...pls. it's great to be back!!!!
just got back from a 2 week tour in Italy with my wife Delight, to celebrate our 10th year wedding anniversary and it was one great trip...we were blessed to be able to visit Venice, Florence, Pisa, Rome, Sorrento, Positano, Praino, Amalfi and Ravello...she got to see the places she wanted to see and i was able to photograph the places i wanted to photograph....it was quite a romantic trip for sure and we just got home a couple of hours ago, feeling quite tired but also glad to be back home...
i shot this scene from Punta Della Dogana just across Piazza San Marco...this canal is the Grand Canal of Venice and meets with Canal Giudecca at this point and becomes Canal di San Marco...this is a daytime long exposure shot at the start of sunset and by using a 10 stop ND filter, i was able to expose this as a 40 second bulb exposure image and set my white balance to direct sunlight to keep the golden hues of the sunset scene...i also liked how the bobbing gondolas came out as motion blurs in this frame...more scenes from Venice to follow....pls. so we leave Venice for now and head over to Florence, Italy and after a short train ride and checking in to our medieval castle like hotel, me and Delight start exploring Florence right away...our dentist here in Chicago had recommended this restaurant that is in Florence so we search for it and find the place situated around River Arno...my wife decided to try Chiangale with Polenta and i had pasta with pesto and it was phenomenal...right after dinner, we come out of the restaurant and see this magnificent sunset taking place so i hurriedly looked for a spot to take my shots...found a hotel close by with a terrace accessible to the public and so i just started clicking away with my trusty D40...this is just one of the many frames i took and shows a very calm River Arno and the Ponte Santa Trinita Bridge in the distance...hope you enjoy this beautiful view....pls. i am so bummed the Planetarium didn't get chosen to get one of the Space Shuttles that were being retired by NASA and distributed to several prospective museums for display...it would have been cool to have one of the shuttles in the city...anyhow, i heard though that they might get to have a shuttle simulator instead....pls. love this huge tree out in McHenry Shores by McHenry Dam...i tried to fill the entire frame here with it's outstretched bare branches with the setting sun behind it, which makes for a really nice sunset silhouette...have a great night guys...will catch up with you later, nursing a sore back right now....if i was out shooting right now, i wouldn't be feeling this achy back right now ;-)

caught a beautfiul spring sunset in the city with some really fantastic colors in the sky...cropped the frame to a pano format for a better presentation of this sunset scene...the place looks deserted as the temps that night was dipping in the very low single digits...hope everyone had a great weekend...pls. caught this really nice sunset by one of the cliffside vista points in Sorrento after a delicious dinner at a local tratorria in the main square...this was our last sunset in Italy as we were scheduled to fly back home to Chicago the next day...and although both of us really enjoyed and loved our brief tour in Italy, i think we were both excited that we were going home too coz we sure were missing Chicago a lot....pls. beautiful sunset light, some fabulous clouds, a still lake, some nice silhouettes and reflections made for some fun photo ops last month in Lily Lake...i set this to expose a little darker to enhance the marvelous play of light and shadows in the clouds and on the water surface...hope it works...pls. Harbour Town is a picturesque quaint town beautifully nestled by Calibogue Sound in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina...after a very long land trip that took us about 17 hours from Chicago to Hilton Head, we all felt really tired but still pushed ourselves to head out and explore the island...i was able to get lots of sunset shots, blue hour shots and night scenes by the harbour...this was one of my fave shots for today's sunset...hope you'll like this one too...pls.
